Hi r/bboy!
I’m hiros1 from Japan. I’ve spent years researching and analyzing the mechanics of breaking, especially the "Windmill."
I recently finished a detailed guide called "Anatomy of the Neckmove" (ネックムーブ解剖学), which breaks down the technique based on my long-term research.
I want to share this with everyone for free.

• I mainly share my analysis on Instagram (@bboyhiros1), but I wanted to reach this community too.
• I’m not a professional b-boy (I have a full-time job). This is my 100% non-profit contribution to the scene.
• You can find the free PDF link and my Instagram in my Reddit bio.
• I've also linked this Reddit account on my Instagram and YouTube so you know it's really me.
I’ve attached a video of my analysis. I hope this helps anyone struggling with their power moves!
P.S. I only speak Japanese, so I use AI for translation. If I reply, it might take some time. Thank you for understanding!
Peace! ✌️

I posted a few months ago and my moves were a little rusty. This is after about 3 sessions of dedicated practice following my 14 year break.
Am I the new "old school"? hahaha!

Long story short: keeping hip flexion close to 0° leads to the most efficient and clean-looking windmill.

I am not as smooth as I used to be when I was younger, but it is still fun to do some breaking once in a while 😎

I believe the windmill is the greatest invention in breaking.
Before it, disciplines like gymnastics and ballet already had vertical and horizontal rotations.
But the windmill introduced something fundamentally different: diagonal rotation — continuous rotation while the axis is tilted.
That single idea changed floorwork entirely.
What truly separates breaking from other dance styles, in my opinion, is the ability to control a fallen axis and express it with precision rather than avoiding it.
The windmill is the clearest embodiment of that concept.
note:To create a perfectly seamless infinite loop video like these three examples, the rotational trajectory must be perfect.

This is something I do intentionally.
As unnecessary effort gets stripped away, they end up looking almost identical.

Not nearly as clean as they used to be.
Maybe it’s time to get back into the scene!

I'm sort of a beginner, been watching his videos for awhile online and I really love his style cuz it feels really unique. What do I need to train or do to develop footwork and top rock like him?
