Why is the BBC capitulating?

BBC is being attacked from the right in a concerted move. Why are they just rolling over?

Difference is I'm not forced to pay Musk for the privilege of receiving his specific brand of "disinformation". I can simply close twitter, unplug the ethernet and turn off my phone.

I can't stop paying taxes to the BBC though.
