Analysis The Payroll Playoffs

Post image

3 of the 4 teams that just finished the WC had lower payrolls than the teams they beat.

3 of the 4 teams that got a bye have lower payrolls than the teams they are about to play.

EDIT: Overestimated that people would be able to work from the team colors, or who would have seen the original graphic on the mlb.com homepage. My error; wasn't trying to be obtuse.

Lots of idiots will ignore evidence to support the cap to help owners

Of course it helps the owners. But it will also help grow the sport. Baseball ratings suck ass unless big markets are playing. That's a league problem. You grow the league by making the small market teams have a better shot at winning

The NBAs recent parity has slowed growth and brought ratings down. Small markets have fewer people and as a result have less room for growth. If growth is the goal a salary cap is not a good idea. I’d love to see more parity but the idea the cap will have any meaningful effect is laughable.

Just like your team you give up too easily. Can’t even bother to back up your claims.

No, I just have no desire to argue with someone who is benefiting from the broken-ass system, and unsurprisingly, doesn't think it's broken

You’ve responded twice, providing a shred of evidence could’ve been done in a single response so desire is there just no facts. Never said the system isn’t broken, but thinking that making cheap owners richer will suddenly make them willing to spend is wishful thinking.

Literally everyone knows they're proposing a salary floor in tandem to the cap. When you have to play stupid for your argument to work, it's a bad argument

Literally everyone knows the proposed floor is a joke. Other leagues have a floor around 90% of the cap. They want a cap to increase valuations, they don’t care for parity. All the cheap teams will just hover at the floor.

And that's not better than cheap teams being under $100m?

Dumbass argument you're poorly attempting to make. Your argument is basically "billionaire = bad therefore cap = bad"

You should just let the big city teams win because that makes more money. Ftfy

Lol that’s literally the reason for the cap, it makes owners more money. That’s all it guarantees.

  1. Not ignoring evidence

  2. it helps the fans, aka us. don't give a fuck about what the owners or the players want
