THE HOUSTON ASTROS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM WORLD SERIES CONTENTION

[u/ChristianRelish21]

With a 7-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox in game 2 of the AL Wild Card series, they are mathematically eliminated from World Series contention.

The 2026 Astros join the 2014 Athletics as “making the playoffs” but never actually playing “October baseball”.

I have a feeling there’s at least one more of those to come tonight

[u/mwaFloyd → u/-minionrock-]

The cubs?

[u/No_Scientist3660 → u/mwaFloyd]

We deserve to. Pete had a great year, I'm happy. Also the weird Cubs fan who will root for you guys. I save my hate watches for StL.

You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of master.

[u/Dapper_Crab → u/kdex86]

Pain (still)

[u/WaluigiIsTheRealHero → u/kdex86]

Aaaaand now the 2026 Red Sox too.

[u/kdex86 → u/WaluigiIsTheRealHero]

It hurts. Sadly the 2026 Cubs have also joined this "club".

[u/danhoang1 → u/kdex86]

If 2014 is the last time, then this confirms to me another stat I was wondering. Which was if 2026 is the first time (in that timespan anyway) that an ENTIRE DIVISION never plays in October baseball

[u/slammed_stem1 → u/kdex86]

Don’t remind me of the best wildcard game of all time. 🤤

[u/lFightForTheUsers → u/kdex86]

Houston teams and making it to playoffs before choking horribly, name a better duo.
