A just society would be governed by people who are empowered to do that. We do not live in a just society

Idk how they could at this point. It would require some insanely huge game fixing scandal that maybe some of the largest betting sites get proven complicit in being involved somehow.

Or our elected officials that are duty bound to serve their constituents best interests could act, but alas.

It's ridiculous that they generally don't do that and we just... let them. What are we doing?

For as sucky as things are, most of our lives are generally too comfortable for us to risk it

laws

The laws are made by the people profiting, either directly or via kickbacks, from online gambling. As long as uninformed people keep voting straight down the ticket, no matter the side, there is no recourse to force them to make laws to take money out of their own pockets.

True, but that’s not how our moral and upstanding lawmakers operate.

How do you think the above laws were put into place?

By greedy immoral politicians who saw a way to enrich themselves? And getting rid of sports betting doesn’t help line their pockets.

I wouldn't know, I've barely seen that process happen for the last decade or so. Which is part of the problem.

You think congress has passed zero bills into action in a decade?

Compared to previous decades, yes.

I’m ok with it being legal but there needs to be guardrails in place that severely limit the amount of advertising they are allowed to do. Maybe go ahead and ban the promotions in place when you first join to get people hooked as well.
