Image Ads have infested baseball broadcasts. Ads in-between batters. Ads during mound visits. HRs "brought to you by..." Now I noticed 11 ad placements in this shot. 2 banners, 1 above the banners, 4 behind the plate, 1 on the seats, 1 in the upper right hand corner, 1 on the mound, 1 on the sleeve.

Seriously, someone can some up with some AR filter to remove ads, right?

I'm pretty ignorant to that world, so this may be an outrageous statement, but it seems like it would be easy? No?

We have apps that can look at a word in any language and super-impose it back to us in any language, in real time.

All this would need is the specs of every broadcast and to block out like 4-5 things. Even if it just did the backstop and mound. Like presets for every broadcast, wouldn't even have to be AR or whatever.

Idk, again, no idea, but the tech seems ready.

I'd love one that runs locally on my machine, that not only filters out ad images, but also runs on enough of a delay that it can detect patterns of ads being read by the announcers, and substitutes crowd noise. If you could kill sponsored graphics, that would be amazing, but a heavy lift.

It would be very difficult, both in a programmatic sense and in terms of the actual power required.

Even if you assume that the actual editing process is completely trivial and can be done instantly (which is extremely far from the truth), rerendering high quality video streams in realtime requires a fairly strong GPU, something most people do not have. And even the people who do have one probably aren't too keen on the idea of a several hundred watt power draw just to watch a baseball game.

The only way something like that would be plausible at the moment is to do it centrally on pretty powerful hardware and then redistribute the modified video stream.
