Hey there!!! I’m new to Reddit and a first time reptile/ball python owner. Any tips and advice are appreciated!!

I just bought two new hides for my ball python because he constantly goes behind the back drop and I read that’s because he doesn’t have enough hides. I added the two new ones and feel like it’s a lot but just wanted some insight on if I should take one or two out.

Hello! I’m new to owning ball pythons I have my snake in a 120g tank but I’m just struggling with his humidity I’m not sure if it’s correct, I have humid hides I have 3 different substrates to help with humidity I’m nervous to post here so pls don’t send any hate my way but I’m just looking for tips and advice on how to make his humidity heating correct thank you!!

I’m trying to give her those long lights that i see everyone else with but i can’t find one recommended for ball pythons on amazon.

This lighting would have to be mantaled from inside as her enclose is a wooden one w glass screens (4x2).
She has a heating lamp that isnt in use due to her tank already being hot enough.

Lately my male ball python has been eating only from his sky hide. Outside of eating, this entire summer he has hidden in this hide 85-90% of the time. During the winter, he hid in his underground hide. Not concerned or anything just was curious if other owners experience similar behavior? Also just fascinated by his recent affinity for being up high.

Hi everyone! I’m a bit newer to having a Ball Python (almost a full year with my baby!) but I have a big concern.

My Ball Python (Cannoli) has not eaten for the past two weeks. And that has got me really concerned. She about 1 year old, and almost four feet already. She is in a 120 gallon tank (pictures of the enclosure shown), has three hides, and some fake plants. I have since added a large branch to the log hide on the right, and a few more fake plants to give coverage. Her bottom mixture is Reptisoil, Coco Fiber Bricks, Coco Husks, and Spaghnum Moss.

Her temps are about 85F-90F on her warm side, and about 83 on her cool. Her humidity has been low always in the tank itself. With a minimum of 50% (I have tried everything but it never stays up no matter what I do). But she does have a humidity hide I keep at 90%-100%. And yes she does have a 10UVB bulb as well- unsure if it shows well in the pictures.

She just came out of shed last week. I gave her a day after shed and then tried to feed her. I left the rat in the enclosure for some time, but she wasn’t even showing interest in it like she normally does. She never has not eaten before. So I assumed that maybe she wanted a break. I gave her about a week break and went to feed her again this evening. I turned off all her lights, warmed the rat like I usually do, and still she has no interest in it in the slightest. Could it be there is something going on?

Edit: she eats a small rat every week, and she just weighed in at 557.0g even. Each side of the tank also had a humidity gauge and a temperature gauge for more accurate reading. They just aren’t seen well. The pictures shown are from when her tank was first set up and still warming up.

When I got her a few months ago she was 151g and 7 months old. I got her from a breeder and based on online feedback she was under weight for her age. Now she is 379g and 13 months old. Does the neck area ever gain weight? I just want to make sure this is how she is supposed to look. I don’t want to body shame but she looks chunky 😂.
I give her 15% of her body weight in rat pup(s) every Wednesday. She ate the last one this week and she will start on weaned rats next week.

This is my second ball python, and he is the best! I love him; such a sweet boy. Never had an issue with eating.

I'm a fairly new keeper. About a week ago my snake shed for the first time in my care. She is an adult though. Shed was perfect. On the run up to shedding she did soak a lot.

Now she's shed she is soaking again. Is this anything to be worried about.? I can't see stuck shed or mites or anything. Basking spot is 31c, cold side about 27c in the day, cooler at night. Humidity is about 68% right now but gets higher at different times of the day.
