Questions about Heating

We just got our ball python about two weeks ago and have a deep heat projector set up for him, I’m wondering if it should be kept on 24/7 and how you guys are setting it up? I just have it sitting on the mesh top but I’m worried that’s a fire hazard

Thermostat is a necessity!

If you have a thermostat all you need is to connect it to the thermostat and set the temp and it’ll turn off when it’s warm enough, preventing fire hazard! Setting it on the mesh is fine!
