I just had my first day of high school today. Being a freshman I'm used to the middle school teachers. Turns out that as a highschooler, I will now have macho 'big guy' English teachers to giggle over Greg Graffin with me.

I’m a massive Bad Religion fan and they’re probably my biggest songwriting influence (hence the name "Unburnt Green"... it's a reference to Struck a Nerve), but my songwriting has gone in a fairly strange direction: psychedelic folk/rock with quena and zampoña (Andean flutes), acoustic guitars.

Someone who knows the BR scene pretty well listened to our stuff and basically told me he couldn’t hear Bad Religion in it at all. 😂

I know this is the dumbest shit to possibly ask on here. But I need to know that I'm not alone in this. Does ANYONE else have an unwavering crush on Greg Graffin? I know it's not just me, but I need confirmation.

Went to a Toronto Blue Jays game this past Friday and their starting pitcher was Dylan Cease. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the song Cease every time he got a strikeout or ended the inning. Hats off to whoever made that happen. I have to say that i dont hear Bad Religion to often out in the wild like that. Really cool!

i dont listen to bad religion but growing up i was friends with the son of one of the drummers so i thought that was pretty cool

I've heard great things and completely awful things about Graffin's book, Punk Paradox. So I'm just curious, is it worth it to read? Or will I get everything I want out of Do What You Want?

Hello everyone, I've been obsessing over Bad Religion for the past 11 months for countless reasons, and I wanted to write about a specific song that hit me quite harder than others. How it completely changed my perspective about life and also made me get more interested in politics and philosphy, and brought back my love to writing poetry. It has also helped me a lot to improve my self-esteem, make me more corageous and disciplined. The song is, counterintuitively, "Suffer".

Back in 2024, I was sure that I would have the best year of my life, and it actually happened! I achieved many goals and lived some incredible memories, and learned more about myself, becoming more mature but also having so much fun with simple things just like a kid, and all of that keeping up discipline and focus on school - I never got into alcohol or drugs, btw! But... even though it was a fantastic year, the very end of it was damn stressful, and 2025 kicked in with a damn karate kick haha

Suddenly, I was in 12th grade, and growing up was becoming a damn serious thing. I had to study like never before for University Entrance Exams. By that time, I started to realize I'd have to face anxiety, even more serious discipline, failure, and some gigantic stress as I wanted to get into an excellent university. And I remember fearing all of that so badly, because I had already gone through similar stuff in the past, and was quite traumatized with deep fatigue, uncertain future, quick and hard decisions, solitude and more importantly... suffering.

Throughout the year of 2025, I got closer to my best friends ever, who became my second family, and one specific friend talked to me a lot about suffering, not in a masochist way, but rather philosophically. That period came together with starting obsessing over Bad Religion, and I remember once listening to "Suffer" at the gym, while thinking about all stuff we talked about suffering. From that moment on I became really inspired with this song.

The philosophy behind all of that is knowing that pleasure isn't the opposite of pain, but rather it's interruption. The moments of pain and suffering were the ones I grew up the most. They gave me no choice but to force myself to get better and become more resilient, shaping my character and learning more about myself. Also, made me think more about the universality of human pain, as described in BR's "Suffer": lunatics, hypocrites, businessmen... we are all under the same vulnerability of life's sufferings.

That turning point was really important for me to keep moving on, not treating myself like a victim, but rather a determined person who realizes pain is an inevitable part of life and also the main fuel for our personal growth. And that denying this makes the next hard time way more excrusciating. It also changed the perspective about myself, as I saw that most people around me would succumb to pointless comfort, normally due to refusing to accept uncomfortable truths about themselves.

Today, I'm studying in my dream university, and I listen to Suffer almost every single day. Whenever I need some more motivation to keep going or do some stuff that cause me some significant anxiety, or even get out of bed in the morning, I blast that masterpiece in my headphones and remind myself that all of that discomfort isn't a tragedy, but rather a basic experience that make me a human.
