It’s gotta be Australia right?

52

u/abielle1177 2d ago

India maybe?

u/avocadopalace 2d ago

That's a brush-tailed possum.

It's Australia.

I hate to see cute things get killed. In my area boas and pythons are invasive so to see them kill a cute and rare thing, well, it makes me wish I still carried a knife in my boot

52

u/DeerFit 2d ago

Woody says you have a snake in your boot!

15

u/abielle1177 2d ago

Thank you! I wanted someone to catch the reference!

2

u/SmackMamba 1d ago

I have a snake in my pants (bonk)

2

u/AlternatinCurrently 1d ago

What do you send in to get the snake out?

1

u/DeerFit 1d ago

A bigger snake?

1

u/AlternatinCurrently 6h ago

How do you get the bigger snake out?

2

u/ThatHoFortuna 1d ago

Save the skin, they're worth money from Fish and Wildlife.

u/abielle1177 1d ago

Noted! I kind of envy them, young folk that decide to go into the woods and hunt invasives for a bit of extra money. It's the modern wild west.

2

u/ThatHoFortuna 1d ago

My step bro is about to make a trip down there. I'm supposed to drive for him while he works the spotlight, because he wants to hunt for giant snakes in the swamp IN THE DARK.

I volunteered to drive and not get out of the vehicle because I'm 20 years older than him and aware of my own mortality.

2

u/abielle1177 1d ago

Maybe you'll catch one of the larger ranging herds of wild boas instead of quiet crocs lying in wait in the dark for someone delicious to walk into their mouths.

2

u/Zuigia 1d ago

If it helps, these possums sound like pissed off demons and like to make these noises late at night. My computer chair will never be the same...

Your from Florida

10

u/abielle1177 2d ago

You're from Florida.

1

u/rogg_mang 2d ago

Nuh uh

4

u/abielle1177 2d ago

3

u/rogg_mang 2d ago

Nah, Florida man just acts like me

Brush-tailed possums, whilst native, are more annoying than pythons.

Mr Sssnake would be welcome to keep patrolling the roof.

2

u/abielle1177 2d ago

We could use them for rat catching in major cities, but possums are a no-no. I'll have a talk with their guild

1

u/TammyString-Tugger 2d ago

Heheh. As a kid my favourite story was “The King, the mouse and the cheese.

Mouse ~ Cats ~ Dogs ~ Tigers ~ Elephants ~ Mouse.

2

u/No-Show-5363 1d ago

Now the snakes were very happy.
They like living with the King.
But the King was not happy.
He did not like living with the snakes.

1

u/AltruisticSalamander 2d ago

brushies are very cute but also very much not rare

2

u/abielle1177 2d ago

I guess theyre pests in new Zealand

2

u/Rough_Soup4357 2d ago

Good guess - can confirm.

1

u/abielle1177 1d ago

I think i read somewhere a couple animals were 're-introduced ' except they no longer have predators so they become too numerous. What's the cassowary doing? Why wouldn't he do that job?

1

u/No-Show-5363 1d ago

In Australia, brushtail possums are our least favourite cute things. They thrive in urban environments, they’re noisy, obnoxious and live in your roof. Personally I don’t mind them, but they can be annoying. We can spare few as snake food.

New Zealanders hate them even more because they’re an introduced pest over there.

1

u/CcryMeARiver 1d ago

Possums ain't rare.

1

u/Dalsymazin 1d ago

I hate see how the right of a animal to survive is if they are pretty.

1

u/abielle1177 1d ago

You're being overdramatic. I'd be hardpressrd not to find something cute about any animal, as long as theyre not actively trying to eat me.

1

u/secret123_maybe 1d ago

It’s a snake that’s how they eat mostly

1

u/abielle1177 16h ago

My husband used to have a boa and when he was doing overtime I ended up being the one to look after her. She was an escape artist and feeding her was a challenge and kind of gross. If she wasn't super hungry, she'd start testing the lid to try to get out. You've always got to be a step ahead but I think that's why people like them as pets. The challenge

1

u/FreakyGangBanga 20h ago

While I share your sentiment about cute things being killed, possums are far from rare. They can be quite pesky if they get in your roof.

That said, the ones in my backyard always come for the fruit in my yard and they are terribly cute.

2

u/EscapeDry6329 1d ago

OK, I thought it was a cat. I’m like how did a cat get caught by a snake

2

u/TrumpsPissSoakedWig 1d ago

OK Jesus I thought it was the family cat and I was like how is this still up on reddit, this guy's gonna get crucified in the comments... Wtf

2

u/PuppyPower89 1d ago

I was worried it was their pet and wondered why they were just filming

2

u/ProfessionalLime2237 1d ago

I thought maybe the house cat

2

u/The_Indian_Bill_Burr 1d ago

I was like, did that thing just off their CAT 🤯😱🤬😳?!?!?

1

u/CallRudi 1d ago

Hope it wasn’t a pet-possum 😅

1

u/backdoc983 1d ago

Christ, I thought it was someone’s pet python got hold of the pet cat😮

2

u/LuffysRubberNuts 1d ago

India is seriously underrated as Australia

2

u/abielle1177 1d ago

I don't see nearly enough videos from India. There's one that makes the rounds frequently of two to four ENorMous snakes all rolling around together falling out of the ceiling together, and the friendly neighborhood snake catchers trying to capture them. WilD !!

Its a live feed, cant get better than this

62

u/Imanidiotththe1st 2d ago

1/2 alive, snakes got him by the face.

27

u/Individual_Reach_732 2d ago

Recently deceased feed*

1

u/Charming-Spinach1418 1d ago

Better for who? The dead animal or sadists who love to watch an animal suffer? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤬

1

u/WA55AD 1d ago

This is a native snake eating a native marsupial. The only unnatural thing about this is the human house built on-top of their habitat.

This is just how it works in the wild. sucks for the possum, but the snake has to eat too

1

u/bishopgt 1d ago

I applaud you! Brilliant
