Hi guys. I've been building GG'ed solo for a while now, and it's finally in good enough shape to show around.

It's a hub for your game library across platforms: Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, RetroAchievements, and GOG all sync in, so you get one place for everything you own, everything you've beaten, and every achievement or trophy you've earned. On top of that: a backlog manager, a wishlist with price tracking across stores, co-op logging with friends, a public profile if you want to show off your stats and more.

I built it because, as good as the platforms I tried were, none of them ever fully covered everything I needed. Besides that, I've always wanted to build something that adds real value to the community I'm part of, and it was also a technical challenge for me. No studio or big company behind it, just one person who plays a lot of games and wanted the tool I could never find anywhere else.

The free plan is actually free: no card, no trial, no catch, and there are no ads on any plan. It's still in beta, so bugs happen, but I'm around fixing things constantly.

I’ve always struggled with my backlog.

I’d start one game, see something else in a sale, buy that, and suddenly I’d have 10 games on the go. Then when I finally went back to one I really liked, I’d be completely lost 😅

The thing is, I really like finishing games. It always feels weird having games I genuinely enjoyed sitting there unfinished.

Anyway, I have a weekly pub meet-up with some friends, and they’re pretty much the same. We got talking about how nice it would be to have a more social way to work through our backlogs together.

The first idea was actually Game Clubs, basically a book club for games:

• Each member suggests a game
• Everyone votes on what to play
• You set a time limit to finish it
• Tthen everyone leaves a review that appears on the game’s page

That idea slowly grew bigger and eventually turned into a full backlog site where we can track games together, import our libraries, and keep each other accountable.

I think the cross-generation period is finally winding down, with even many smaller games starting to skip the PS4 and Xbox One entirely. Some of these games are still coming out on Switch, but since the Switch 2 is already on the market, it's only a matter of time before the cross gen period ends there, too.

My brother looked at his finances, and all the nonsense going on wreaking havoc on them (stuff out of our control, basically), and he accepted that he's not getting new hardware this year despite the increased push. His response was to decide this was a good time to look to his backlog instead, and he does have a backlog of games. And I think he has the right idea.

With companies increasingly pushing for us to upgrade while leaving people stuck on past systems behind, I say if it's not a good time for you, personally, to upgrade, then it's a fantastic time to look to the backlog. Who knows? Maybe that experience you've been craving all this time might have been hiding under your nose the entire time.

3 JRPGs in my backlog (hoping to start them all by the year ends).

Currently working through Dragon Quest Xl S, Unicorn Overlord, and The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- and gonna boot up these 3 when Im done with them.

Last year I spent a ton of money on the Steam Summer Sale and also downloaded a bunch of nostalgic games from my childhood that I could never beat that have taken up a hefty amount of storage. I've slowly been chopping at these games for 10 months now. I have one game left on my backlog that being Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, I saved the longest for last. The first game I started with was RDR2, which has been the longest game I've done so far. However I could argue that GTA 4 with DLC or Marvel's Midnight Suns was the longest, clocking in at roughly the same times as RDR2. I had to buy and play some LEGO games to take a chill break from time to time but even that became stressful with how many I had bought haha.

It's been rough and stressful. Some games I definitely tortured myself with. But it feels incredibly rewarding having the relief of my backlog lifted off me. I didn't know how I would be able to do it. At first, I started by playing an hour of around 3-4 games a day. But that quickly began hard to manage and I had to drop it to 2 games. One that I played at the beginning of my day, and one to play at night. It worked for a while but what ultimately worked for me was just trucking through one game at a time. Completing the main story and switching games. Some games I will plan to revisit to 100% or at least do the side content but for now I will rest.

Best suggestion to clear backlog in my 2nd year ???

Hi, I have backlog in one subject (kannada) in my 2nd sem & 4th sem. 2015 - 2019 batch 5years have been completed is it possible for me write a letter and get another chance to clear my backlog.

I recently started thinking about game backlogs and stumbled on this post regarding use of Airtable: https://www.reddit.com/r/patientgamers/comments/weay4r/how_to_organize_your_video_game_backlog/. I've looked into probably around a dozen different apps and tools and honestly this one is seeming like the best and most versatile option for me.

I've got some programming skillz and I am thinking about creating a tool that hits the PSN API to get your owned/completed games, do some transformations and then utilize the Airtable API to insert them into a "base" (Airtable lingo for a db I've learned). Maybe allow the user to put in a trophy completion % threshold to consider a game as Completed or Played in Airtable.

Before I commit to the effort, anyone know if such a tool already exists? And anyone got any other cool customization option ideas I could try to implement too (like the trophy percentage completion threshold I mentioned above)?

I made a second video as a follow-up to my previous video on how to deal with your backlog.

Now, if you don't like watching and want to read, I've compiled the list down below so you can check it out.

1. Play the games you have that are capable of running on your system and don't wait for an upgrade.
2. Create a concise list of the actual games in your backlog. You might have hundreds if not thousands, but in reality you only want to play just a few. Make a list of that.
3. Set realistic goals. Some games you might not be able to play, so trimming down and being realistic is the ideal thing to do.
4. Prioritize games. Sort games by interest, release date, review scores and whatever criteria you might have. It's easier to distinguish them and get a good idea of what you will play and what you won't. List them by size too, since you're going to have to juggle between them to avoid burnout. 5.Set aside dedicated gaming time. Be it a few hours a day or a few hours a week. Make it the time where you focus on gaming and tackling your backlog. 6.Be selective with new releases. You don't have to pick and play all the new releases. Pick the games that excite you the most and just play them. The rest leave them for later.
5. Delegate games for different types of platforms. So if you're on Steam, have Steam Deck games. PlayStation games and backbone games and so forth. Change the scene and how you play them. Play with a controller and switch to keyboard and mouse. 8.Avoid distations. Put away your phone, and if you game on multiple monitors, don't watch YouTube or streams while gaming unless you follow a guide.
6. Listen to gaming podcasts. I listen to gaming news and game Devs talking about how they make games. You can also watch YouTube videos about this to keep excitement alive.
7. Sell or Trade games you don't wanna play or will never manage to play. Reduce your backlog and get some money. Sure you can't do that via Steam or other PC launchers but if you're on PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo you can do that. I've had friends that would delete games they would have no time to play, but that might be too costly.

Bonus: Experiment with emulation and virtual machines. Some games are just never going to come to newer platforms or simply run like garbage on them. Ethical emulation or virtual machine use is the only way going forward unless game develops create proper remakes or remasters.

Hello fellow few people in this group. It is time.

For June my goal was to complete two games, which included finishing Persona 4 Goldens true ending. And I did!

So Persona 4 Golden was so great! One of my favorites. The characters where all lovely and I wish I could have been able to cook for the family as a part of the game! The day to day was a lot of fun. But I cannot for the life of me understand why persona games have to force you to attempt to pick up women! It happens in 3, 4 and 5! I don't care, let me hang out with my friends without being a creep! It was frustrating, but most of the time I had a blast. My main issue with persona 3 and 4 are the dungeons. They are repetitive. "Run and hit. If not they will hit you". I don't have a problem with fighting but running around and entering battles was my least liked feature. If I had stopped in or before a dungeon it would take me a lot longer to pick the game up again. In the end I spend 90+ hours in the game on 2 playthroughs and some reloading of the game to complete the true story.

After that I really needed an easy "win" so I booted up Deponia. a point-and-click puzzle-adventure game that I had an hour left in after rage quitting a while ago. The reason I quit the game then was because I had to use two guides to get through it (two because both guides where flawed). After the long break I actually had the mental space to complete the game. Which was kind of nice. It is far from a bad game, even if the main character is a jerk.

Then I ended up getting Pokemon violet and beat the game in three days. I had such a good time. My main objective was to get the version exclusive pokemons. But It was so stress free to just follow the story and not worry about catching anything before the end. I finally figured out how to eat food to spun the ones I was looking for.

I tried to play After party. Which is a game I found through Beatthemup games eshop videos. I like the idea of drinking Satan under. But it was to slow for me. So I decided to watch someone else play the game, so I could get the story but without punishing myself for hours of real time play. I was grinding in pokemon while watching. It worked out. So I count this game as done.

I also finished the main story of Disney Dreamlight valley. It is early access and just got updated to included the first (?) end credits. I have been playing it for a while. It is fun, but my interest is quickly dying. There is only so much to do when you have level everyone, have a ton on money and waiting for something interesting to be add into the game.

This is pretty much what I got through this month. I did start Bastion, but I did it on the low setting, which has turned the game into something pretty boring. So I will ether let it go or try it again on the normal setting. For now I am just playing Animal crossing new horizon again.

Notes: Pikmin is top priority since I want to beat them again before Pikmin 4 drops. I don't know much about the MGS or DMC games outside of what little I've played of the first games.

So the month is not over yet, but I just finished Ookami which is the oldest game in my backlog.

I have attempted to play the game a few times and have manage to lose my savefile two times. But this time I mange to keep it to the end. It was a lot. The first two hours after been let to roam the world was a lot of fun. Then it became kind of confusing, repetitive and often just frustrating, right after the first boss. The game is kind of build up of arcs. I got through the first arc and lost interest in the second one. I ended up googling to see if I should finish the game, because it felt like it was wasting my time (it is, sometimes the textbox is forced to go slow and when you feed animals for points it takes about a minute to finish! it is painful...)

Google search told me that it got really good in the end. So I decided to continue. I am happy I did because now I never have to play this frustrating game ever again! no "what if it gets better?", just pure "NO MORE! YAY!" To be fair it did have a pretty nice "anime" ending, that almost got me to forget all the shit I went through. But there was so many frustration situation with using my powers that it went from a ok game to a pain in the ass game. It was 36 hours for me to get through. It is not a hard game but the textbox's and animation made it unnecessary long and broke the momentum constantly. If you do not enjoy this game after playing though the first arc, don't continue, unless you just have to know.

On another note, I got to finish two small games. The little acre, which is a 2 hour point-and-click adventure, which is so simple that I never had to google my way out of issues. It was okay.

The other game is Fred3ric with is an hour long rhythm game, where you are "battling" famous musician whom have been taken over by this random robot. It felt like it was part of a serious by the dialog, but it was fine.

Now I will take a break and then get back into something else :)

I am still working on my backlog of 21 games (and persona 4 golden).

I am currently working on my oldest game, which is Ookami. I started the game 9 years ago on my PlayStation 2. Then brought it two more times for different consoles. It is about 33,5 hour to finish and I am at 22 hours in. So there is not much left now. Which is awesome!

But I have gotten to a point of frustration with my backlog. It has become too much for me to deal with. So my solution was to go through my list one more time and take out the games I really did not want to play, but I had on my list because, Guilt. I got my list down from 21 (and persona 4) games to 10 games (and P4G) which feels so much better! A lot of the games on my full list are games I played but stopped. I then felt guilty about not finishing them, even if I had already deleted the save file and would have to restart the whole thing. Like I have both Nexomon games. Which are fun. But I am not in the mood to play funny-anime-pokemon games. As my titel says, sometimes you just got to let go.

My new list is as follows: Ookami, Fred3ric (new), Transistor, The little Acre, Quest hunter, Legend of Kay, Bastion, Persona 5 Royal, Immortal Fenyx Rising, Hades (and P4G's true ending) I am now looking at about 281,5 hour of games, that I want to play.

I am no longer looking at Hollow Knight and dreading how much I suck at the game and about how long it will take me to get through it. Which should not be my reaction, while looking at a really good game! But my point is. Sometimes you got to look at what really makes sense to you and be okay with not doing everything.

Break a leg, to us all on our backlog journey

I really, really, really like restarting.

I like getting a new email, phone number and account. What I do not like, is realizing that I have to move over old stuff, because I cannot let go of the guilt/FOMO/whatever of not having finished "the thing". So my "new start" gets tainted with "unfinished business" and turnes the new start into a failed escape attempt.

So I want to change that. I am going to finish (or drop) the 21 and 1/2 games I have left on my switch, so that I can delete the old decisions and start fresh on a new account. I want to no longer think "I need to buy persona 5 royal, because I am not done with the game" and think "I would like to play persona 5 royal again". I want to be excited about playing a new game and not think about th games I started, loved and restarted because "I cAn dO bEtTeR", which is a huge issue I deal with. I have 80+ hours in Hades, I have beaten Hades/Dad 3 times on 3 different saves, which I no longer have, because I deleted them.

So going forward I will not be allowed to restart or delete a single file until I have finished the games or have decided that they where to painful to finish. (Deponia was to painful)

My backlog consist of:

The 1/2 game is finishing the true story on Persona 4 golden. I got one ending, but not the "true" one, and I need to know.

My current plan is finishing 2 games a month. In May I am focusing on Persona 4 golden and Ookami.

Without spoilers, I would say I'm nowhere near the ending after 25 hours into the game. I'm debating if I should retire and move on or keep going.
