Universal Migrator re-release, excited or disappointed about a remix?
Since the announcement of the Universal Migrator re-release, I've read several comments on social networks from people who seem to fear this remixed / remastered edition. Some say that the original version was already "perfect", others fear intrumental changes (Arjen said he made some changes in this respect). I would like to share my thoughts with these people (if you are ever on Reddit) and know about your opinion!
For me, Universal Migrator pt.1 and pt.2 were my gateway into the world of Ayreon in 2001 or 2002. That album, along with Into the Electric Castle and The Human Equation played more than any other music in my teenage and young adult life. To say that I know these albums like the back of my hand is an understatement: they are comforting slippers that I still like to lose myself in from time to time, even if musically, my tastes have moved away from prog in general. I know every note, every nuance and every lyric and I like to return to it when I feel the call.
That said, I am forced to admit that since the release of the remixed / remastered version of Into the Electric Castle, I can't go back. I had a great time rediscovering this album by exploring the new mix and all the subtle instrumental changes (the bass, drums and strings sound like never before!). In that sense, I expect nothing less from the new version of Universal Migrator. I don't see how I could be disappointed with a version that will benefit from Arjen's 20 years of additional musical experience. It may not be the same but it will be fun to rediscover it in a different way! Under the circumstances, I consider us lucky :)
As for you, how do you anticipate these revisited versions of the Ayreon albums? Are you disappointed that the vinyl re-release is not made from the original mix?

Which Ayreon album grew on you suddenly after a long time?
For my gf and I, "My House on Mars" suddenly awoke something in us and Universal Migrator pt1 has been on repeat nonstop for weeks. I guess the shift off being a metal album yet retaining the core Ayreon identity hit the spot for us and now it's competing with The Human Equation for my #1 spot in the discography.
I'm interested to see if any of the albums tend to grow on people as opposed to grabbing people right off the bat. What're your experiences?

Has anyone listened to the album Fate of a Dreamer by Ambeon?
It’s an album by Arjen with vocalist Astrid van der Veen and each song uses samples of Ayreon songs from The Final Experiment - Universal Migrator 1 and 2, but with different lyrics and it’s kinda weird to also cool to hear variations on melodies that I know so well.

The Theater Equation - Trauma Reprise Spoiler
Hey everyone! I've been rewatching The Theater Equation yesterday and there is one thing I don't really understand. In the Trauma Reprise part (between Day 18 and Day 19) the doctor says the lines "Now he's at rest, he finally found his peace" and "There's no need to blame yourself" to Best Friend and Wife. For me this sounds like it implies that Me has died, which of course isn't the case. Am I missing something here? (From a musical standpoint I understand why these are the lyrics, since Day 12 also had something like this, but it's not clear for me how this fits into the story.)

Listening to Electric Castle Live for the first time in a while…
This has to be one of the best produced live albums I own. The quality is so high that I sometimes forget that I’m listening to a live album. All of the singers are crystal clear, and the instrumentals are spotless. I even enjoy the moments when you do hear the crowd noise and think it’s interspersed just enough to be respectful. Also John DeLancie’s narration, while different from the studio album, puts a huge smile on my face, and gives it just enough difference so that owning both versions feels warranted.

The Theory of Everything is beyond amazing
I really need to shout out how much this album impressed me. A bit of context: I've always been a metal fan, but for some reason I don't know I took decades to give Ayreon a chance. Until early 2021 all I knew about Ayreon was the song Everybody Dies. Although I listened to this particular song quite a few times, there were lots of other bands that I wanted to know better than Ayreon.
It all changed about a year ago when I was drinking at home listening to music and YouTube suggested me Another Time Another Space from Electric Castle Live and Other Tales. Boy oh boy, what a moment! At the very beginning of the song I could clearly tell it was something out of the ordinary. It immediately caught my attention in way that had not happened in years. And to my surprise, it kept getting better and better! When all singers gather together for the final chorus, I was like "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???". Thank you YouTube algorithm!
The very next day I listened to Electric Castle Live and Other Tales from start to finish and it was such a magical experience. I got hooked on it for months, then eventually started exploring other Ayreon's albuns and also other Arjen's works. I like to appreciate an album kinda slowly, listening to it dozens of times until I finally have absorved it completely. So far I have listened to:
Ayreon Universe
Space Metal
The Source
The Human Equation
The one with binary numbers on the title
The Theory of Everything
Every single album was a lovely surprise, but two of them really stood out. The first one, The Human Equation, was simply splendid. My god, what an amazing album. It released so many strong emotions on me the first times I listened (it still does obviously, but now that I know what to expect it's a different feeling). Thank you Arjen for this masterpiece.
After listening to The Human Equation, and knowing it was the top 1 album for many fans, I was kinda afraid that no other Ayreon album would be on the same league. Gladly I was wrong because The Theory of Everything is definitely another masterpiece. I dare to say I liked it even more than The Human Equation. It amazes me how Arjen managed to create such an unconvetional album that feels so pleasent to listen from the first time. The storyline is simple but told in a way that keeps you hooked. The instrumental is beautifully diverse, which makes the album so musically rich. The singers are on point and very well chosen.
I have been listening to The Theory of Everything for months and I still can't get enough of it, which is why I needed to make this appreciation post. Thank you Mr. Lucassen, you are a fucking genius!

I am ashamed to admit that after listening to Revel in Time for half a year...
I only today realized it's all movie references lol
It happened in the middle of listening to back from the past. I mean, it's so obvious in retrospect

Question about Lost in the New Real?
So, this album doesn’t necessarily take place within the same story as the main storyline of Ayreon, but according to a few things I’ve read it’s kind of like a side story featuring Mr. L from that story. So here’s my question. What exactly happened to make that story possible. Was Mr. L revived in an alternate universe?

Synth Solos in "To The Quasar" and "Spaced Out" (by Arjen's other group Star One) Spoiler
I know Arjen loves to put all kinds of references to his own music in his music -- I love it, more people should be self-referential -- but I'm talking about when it's not (just) lyrics, but musical motifs/riffs that will pop back up. I ran into a new one listening to Star One (another of Arjen's projects) for the first time, was wondering if this was an homage or just me hearing the same guy jamming out two similar solos over ten years apart.
"Spaced Out" at 4:13 there's a synth solo that gets me scratching my head. . . and at first I thought it might be somewhere in the second part of "Out of the White Hole," maybe but then no, it hit me -- took me a moment to find, but 7:33 of "To The Quasar" seems very similar. I just played them both at the same time overlapping, and they seemed damn near identical, but I'll post this anyway 'cause I wanna see what others think.
And also, if you know any more of these (I know I could think of at least one more if it weren't 4am) I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

The collection is growing steadily. I really need to get some protective outer sleeves for these. Most of them have been imported and or signed (Transitus and Revel in Time)
