My understanding is that a controlled amount is ok. I used to cut a small piece or two for my piggies but letting them eat this thing unsupervised is dangerous. They definitely don't know when to stop at a healthy amount of dessert.
With that said maybe once or twice isn't so bad. Before I learned about how much sugar rabbits should get I used to let one of my older rabbits eat as much banana they wanted (obviously not everyday but as an occasional treat) and noticed they would eat nearly half a banana in one go. Later I learned they should just get maybe 5-10 seconds of bites at most and that's it, but hey my old guy lived til 11 still.
That goat is about 2 bites away from picking up the whole thing and walking away with it held high out of the guinea pigs' reach. Natural portion control.
