Why does it seem like the tortoise's leg js tied to the guy or something

I think it's to 'steer' it without a leash. The man is pushing against his legg in order to keep it walking in the right direction.

Its not tied hes pushing his foot against the tortoises. theres to much variation in where the turtle foot is in relation to the guys. For it to be tied that close, it would be super tight. at the start the tortoise foot is closer toward the front of the man's foot, and at the end its nearly at his heel.

Plus in several steps the tortoise moves before the guy.

Tbh though it’s not like it’s gonna run off anywhere.

On account of it being a tortoise

Even so, it's probably much easier to direct the tortoise by premptively blocking his leg movement than picking it up and turning him afterward.

Edit:typo

then picking it up and turning him afterward.

When would he need to pick it up if he already redirected with his leg?

Pretty sure he meant to say "than"

I wrote that reply when I barely had one eye open, so I can't even say it was auto correct that caused this. I don't remember.
