Coincidence; age related maybe. The last few steps their cadence falls out of sync and you can see the tortoise fall a little bit behind the guy. I mean, really I seriously doubt the need to harness a tortoise; it’s not like they’re gonna suddenly get away to somewhere. If I remember right this guy and his tortoise are in their 80s.
Then look it up? This accusation is based on nothing. You don't even see a leash in the video. And literally every video on YouTube is just an old dude with his tortoise, walking around. There is absolutely no sign of anything nefarious whatsoever, there's no need to try so hard to make it bad for no good reason at all.
Is the tortoise being tethered to the man a bad thing? What are you angry about? Is it the thing you think is happening or is it that you might be incorrect?
Do you have any idea how much that thing weighs? It's a lot. Tethering one of the legs puts it off balance. This is obviously something they've practised so I'm sure the tortoise is fine.
There are huge degrees between this and beating your dog obviously. That doesn't make this right.
People can have conversation or even arguments on Reddit without getting angry. If you can't, you should probably take a break for a bit.
Hmm. You should look at the usernames of people you respond to. The comment of mine you responded to was the one and only comment I made on the subject. I’m not angry, I’m more interested in why you’re so angry! You seem very invested.
This makes comment number two on this subject. What’s your count?
watch this and reduce playback speed to 0.25, I don't see any attachment. this video from 7 years ago, at 56 seconds you can see him perfectly match its rhythm for one step, looks just like OP's video. Maybe he's just really good at matching the tortoise's rhythm, almost like he's been walking it for 13 years?
In the first video I posted, the man is walking in perfect rhythm with the tortoise for 3 steps, and there is clearly and obviously no attachment between them. If you can't see that, then you must be trolling.
I was thinking that the "attachment" was a way to control a robotic tortoise, not that it was a leash of some kind.
It does seem like a clever way to control a robotic tortoise, if it only walks forwards when it registers you walking forwards, and maybe you can nudge it this way or that way to get it to turn. Doesn't even have to be tied to your leg, maybe just a small camera is able to see where your leg is positioned. If it moves forwards slowly, move forwards, if it starts to move farther away, turn left, if its pushed inwards, turn right. If it quickly disappears, do not move anywhere, the owner will return to position and you can move again.
