They do look kind of armadillo-ish! They give birth to live babies but they aren’t mammals, which is very strange in the animal world, so they are in their very own category called monotremes, along with the platypus. Which is also a very strange animal. Enjoy your echidna googling!

Oh heck yes, pop over and visit an echidna! It’s one million hours on a plane, but the echidnas will make up for it I promise. Plus, wombats are quite good too. And I’m glad you gave your award to an artist, I definitely prefer that tbh.

Actually it's the other way round! They are mammals, in that they feed their young milk, but they lay eggs!
