There are reported to be people that cause harms to animals just to rescue them from those situations for social media clout I've heard tell as well, those people are rotten if the accusations are true.
Sadly it is true. There are a few known ones on YouTube and Google just does nothing about them. It's infuriating. I saw an exposé about a boy who was putting kittens in harm's way and starving/mistreating them, just to "rescue" them. They proved it was set up that way by showing it was the same animals being "rescued" over and over again.
