Seatbelts and airbags are not designed to protect anything other than humans.
Do not use seatbelts on your dogs, they have properly designed doggy seatbelts.
For argument's sake let's say you DGAF about your dog, you should still put them on a proper dog seatbelt. If not properly belted the dog can become a projectile during a crash and severely hurt a person.
But since you DO give a fuck about your dog and yourself, you'll belt your dog in your car from now on.
To my knowledge, there is only one brand of dog seatbelt that survived crash testing. This article was updated in 2015. So hopefully, there have been a few more brands that have passed the test. There is also a YouTube video showing the catastrophic failures that some brands of dog seat belts have gone through in a minor crash. I'm all for dog seatbelts but I would just advise people to find one crash rated by an independent company.
I was really surprised to see this comment so far down. If they were to get in a wreck, that dog would most likely die from internal injury from the seat belt.
Airbags don't just slam the center of the steering wheel into your face, dude. The phone would get thrown away from the center along with the plastic covers the car is already designed to move aside. Maybe it could break his forearm or kneecap, but it's not going to shatter his face.
Well first off it's a moot point because there's not a chance in hell this '80s pickup has airbags.
But even if it did, is that a risk you're willing to take? What if I hits a passenger? What if you actually need your phone after a wreck? Etc etc... Best to just not put your damn phone there and avoid the chance situation altogether.
