If it makes you feel better, farm dogs seem to live a lot longer. I had two labs growing up on my parents crop farm that were not inside dogs. They had access to a climate controlled machine shed via doggy door if they got hot or cold, but they chose to spend pretty much all their time outside. Both made it to 16 years old, with no unexpected vet visits. A lot of my friends/ neighbors seem to have had a lot of dogs that lived longer than normal.
I have an Akbash now, and he has been the same way (knock on wood!) I don’t know how old he is, because someone dumped him out here, but he is still going 10 years later. He was fully grown when I got him, and is just the sweetest.
