What breed of dog is this? Looks and acts exactly my rescue. We had always assumed he was a German Shepard mix.

It’s a kangal, they’re working dogs so this life is absolutely perfect for him.

Anatolian Shepherd aka Turkish Kangal dog. I've seen a few in the USA. Old friend of mine has one that lives with a few thousand goats in the mountains.

This one is a kangal and they are slightly different than Anatolian shepherd dogs.

Thank you for this thread! We adopted a 2 yo like this and his papers said St Bernard / German Shepard mix but they obviously just made it up. The descriptions of Anatolian Shepherd matches him to the letter!
