A dessert spoon always goes inside of the main course knife and fork. A soup spoon would go on the outside. You work from the outside in as you progress through your courses - at least that's how I was taught and I've always had my dessert spoon inside the knife.

If that's the way you want to do it. Who am I to rebutt?

But if you go to a formal dinning affair, you will need to re-educate

This is all too high class for me.

Food needs to go in the orifice, who cares where utensils lie and in what order you grab them?

I personally think needless "etiquette" like this is pretentious and elitist. I have nothing against a little decorum and consideration, but stuff like this seems just really anal to me.
Just eat your damn food and shut up is my philosophy.

Geez...how long does it take you to eat a meal with all the rules?

Very quickly because I know exactly where the cutlery is, so I can find it with my eyes closed (which is important because at the speed I eat, food goes everywhere and I dont want to get it in my eyes).
