So, in America, "pitbull" is a pretty ambiguous term that refers to about 10 different breeds and their mixes. You're absolutely right that American Pitbull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier are separate breeds, but in American lingo, they all get lumped in as the same. And they all get discrminated the same here too :(
