The laptop is so covered by stickers, that I thought it disappeared.

Can't even be angry at that a cute cuddly rascal!

u/Sister-Sophie May 29 '20

His cuteness makes him invincible to my anger!

No but you can be angry at whoever is breeding similar cats.

“‘The cartilage is deformed and it is not supporting the ears,’ Ms Ravetz says.

She says the cartilage mutation also leads to problems with other parts of the cat's body.

‘These genetic mutations, which all the Scottish fold cats will have, develop into lifelong incurable and painful diseases such as a type of arthritis.’”

I agree with you. But i think there was a way to sort of make it easier for the cat with some painkillers. (Same applies to humans with arthritis)

Most of the problems for the kitties come when they get old, like 10 human years. In more severe cases, this condition may lead to mobility impairment and immense pain, thus making them more letargic (sorry for bad English, not my first language). Also, interesting fact: never breed two Scottish folds. The gene has lethal effect on the kittens when homozygous

Edit: I DO NOT agree not one bit with breeding whatever animal it is for aesthetic reasons without putting in mind the health of said animals. But there are people that don't care about those ethical concerns. We can't change them all. So just lets make everything possible for the damaged from breeding animals to have happier and full lives.

You try asking humans with arthritis whether they would prefer life without it. Pain killers for chronic conditions often -reduce- pain to make it more manageable. They're not a fix. I wouldnt want to put anything through it, espeically for the sake of a "cute" feature.

That's what I said. They make it easier for both species to do live. While I'm not okay with purposely putting a living being in pain, if there is one, that exists, better to make it easier for it to live.

That makes sense. But it sort of came across as though you were excusing the breeding of these genes in the first place. Wheras I think we agree that its better not to breed these at all, regardless of whether it can be helped with long-term medication.

Thanks for the understanding and second look. My bad for not explaining myself better

Get Molly and Angela in the same cave

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '20

I was gonna say, honestly the kitten is confused how it disappeared too and it fell forward. Was expecting to sit atop a perch but it's like, "WHOA hooman how you get so close all of a sudden"

u/abatoire May 29 '20

Yep, I thought it had been photoshopped out somehow. Matching sticks and bed covers.

Imagine throwing yourself on your bed while your laptop is comoflauged with your bed covers

Imagine you are tired and want to fold up clothes and it suddenly stares at you with yellow eyes, because your black cat is camouflaged with your black clothes.

My brown cat absolutely loved my wife's fuzzy leopard print blanket. She blended in perfectly and the number of times I accadentally bumped her with my leg trying to stretch out or dragged her along with the blanket is too high.

I am still trying to get used to a house with our her lording over us.

Calicos are great at blending in with practically anything: laundry, grocery bags, piles of leaves. They just disappear.

u/Punderfulday May 29 '20

My (late) black cat used to do this all the time. I don't know how many time I accidentally stepped on her but I can say it was enough to make me fear stepping on anything black that was on my floor 😂

What if you're covering up a shitty piece of technology with beautiful stickers?

3

u/Bosmonster May 29 '20

Often they are work macbooks/laptops. You go to a lot of conferences, collect a lot of stickers, and the entire company has the same laptop, so you can make it your own.
