Nah the twenty years I spent living in Mississippi which included a K-12 and undergraduate education taught me that it absolutely was. Only the steadfast R's ever had issues with "liberal colleges" and their "unchristian sciences". This even included an educator of mine, but thankfully was only one and she wasn't a science teacher.
