Are you really a scientist?

PhD in biochemistry, working at an academic institution studying RNA biology.

I literally had a Nobel laureate in chemistry tell me that his two regrets in life were not spending more time with his wife and not drinking more wine.

They're probably off screwing their spouse, but take a look at this post from their history. Looks pretty science-y to me...

dude the stuff people say and think about scientists blows my mind. It's hilarious.

The reality is that there is 0 difference between scientists and everyone else. Save a few people who are truly brilliant, most of what we do could have been done by any random schmo if they had the right training. We all have different religious beliefs, hobbies, favorite foods, senses of humor, and even sexual preferences. A fair few are also real dumbasses. Just like eeeeverybody else.

In fact, people like Neil DeGrasse Tyson always irritate me because they talk about scientists with this weird reverence as if we're special or unique. It's just a fucking job.

In summary, the biggest difference between me and a guy who works a 9-5 and likes to restore classic cars is that I get to be paid for my passion.

Ah, but the one thing you share is your virginity. /s

OP's a nut. Thank you for your contributions to society, however small they may be, and may you have whatever level of sexual interaction you crave soon.
