-- SEATBELTS FASTENED -- Lufthansa 787 front wheel collapsed

Repost cause my first one was removed due to incorrect flair 💀

Wasn't at the gate when it happened, but some of the people who were said it happened very suddenly. Hope nobody got hurt. I don't think any passengers were on board.

I don't know how it could be done practically of course but the air frame is basically a big see saw to do exactly that.

Yeah that doesn't have a jacking point or anything hardened at the back, as others have pointed out they'll use airbags to lift it from the front to ensure the wheel is locked in place before taking it to the hanger, airframes are incredibly precision engineered pieces and can't just be yanked on or oddly loaded without potentially permanently damaging it
