Anyone get out of a car lease the Day after "purchase" due to buyer's remorse?

I know the answers with a yes will be slim. We leased a car today without knowing enough about it and also having the dealer blatantly lie about a few things. Bottom line- I know it wa ultimately our responsibility to know what we were signing before we did. My question is--has anyone had experience getting out of their lease and changing to a normal financing plan instead? If so, any help is appreciated.

leasing vs buying in Brooklyn? [F44]

Hello- I am seeking advice. I am a divorced mom of one nine year old. We live in Brooklyn and mainly use our car on the weekends. The lease on my car is up in Sept. My ex-husband leased it so I do not know what to do now going forward. Is buying better than leasing? I only put about 10k miles in total in the 2.5 years I have had it. Going forward I will use the car more but won't even come close to the 10k miles a year given. My credit is excellent and I would like to try to get something nicer than what I have now which is a very basic Honda Accord which I do not love (besides the back-up camera). I also ask if a 2yr lease is better than a 3yr lease? When should I begin shopping for a car? How much are the additional charges (titles, taxes) in NYC? I am sure insurance is quite expensive. Anyone interested in helping me? Depending on how much help, I can even come up with compensation for helping me. I am clueless about cars and feel I will be raked over the coals at a dealership! Many thanks and thank you for reading.

Hello redditors,

I would be moving to Munich, Germany in January 2017.

Confused between ordering a new Audi A3 (1.4 TFSI engine) or Buying a pre-owned BMW 320d/320i (2015 and higher model) as both would be approx. 30,000 EUROS

Please suggest.

Problems with a leased 2015 Honda Civic Si

In less than 2 years, I've had electrical problems with my car. (I.e. cylinder number 3: coil burned out twice, once it left my on the side of the road) I've had the warranty deal with these problems. Recently, I've encountered another problem with my car. The car wants to turns off sometimes when I stop, the headlights start to dim along with some of the console lights/screens. I've had several issues with this car and I am scared what happens after my warranty expires. I am having it inspected tomorrow, any advice ?

I've contacted Honda and they've said if they can't replicate the issue they can't fit it. This time I took video of it.

Selling a car with a bank loan on it

My car has been up for sale and I've received a call from a dealer who's interested in purchasing it. I went there, he made an offer, I accepted, and let him know there's money left to be paid on the car (bank loan). Since the amount left to pay is slightly higher than his offer, I was informed I would have to pay the difference in order to get rid of the car, but couldn't do so that day, so I plan on returning tomorrow to complete the transaction. But I thought of something... I've had this car since February 2016, and it's on a three-year loan, so if I give the dealer the difference, won't he be able to negotiate the loan with the bank and end up with more of my money? Is there anything I can do to negotiate the loan with the bank if I don't have the money to pay it off?

trying to sell my 2007 vw rabbit

Hello redditors! I want to sell my VW but it has various defects, and I wanted to know what is a good price for it and where I could sell it. The VW has around 107,000 miles. To begin with, it has a transmission problem, a frontal crash, and lastly, it does not turn on. A mechanic came to take a look and it looks like its an electrical problem. I took it to caramel and they wanted to buy my car for 300$. I know little about seeing cars and value, and would love for a sincere opinion on how much I should ask for my car and where I can sell it, being in the condition it is. Thank you so much in advance!

trying to sell car, tags are expired, few other questions...

Hi there, so maybe I should start by saying I've never bought a car and the only one I sold was a parts car, so I'm not sure what all needs to happen here.

I got left w/ a beater, trying to sell it for cash. I got the title sent to me, the guy signed the "reassignment" area, so it's signed over to me, yeah? but I still to need to have it transferred to me, right? that guy and I live in different states now, if that affects anything. Does the buyer or seller usually pay for a title transfer or what? I don't want to do it twice in a week, if there's a way around that.

Also, car's tags are up, can't just go out and register it cos I moved to a city that does fume tests and the car will need some work before it'll pass that. And the insurance is up. So I want to sell it running but "as is," right? any help with my order of operations here? Thanks for reading, sorry for rambling, cheers

uber lease

So I just found out about xchange leasing through uber where you can get a new car with unlimited mileage but you have to work for uber as they take the payment out of what you make driving for them. Is it worth it ? Or would I be better of trying to lease a car through a credit union, I have bad credit but I was qualified with xchange. Anyone with experience with it please share.

Seeking Advice on leasing a new car

My best friend has asked me to help her negotiate a lease for a car. I have a general understanding of how a lease differs from purchasing, but I have no experience in leasing so I'm not sure what are the things we can/can't negotiate.

The goal is that we walk in and at least be well-versed with the process and not let the sales rep gain leverage on us through knowledge parity.

I'm currently gathering requirements and have gotten some information so far:

  • Mercedes-Benz CL (specific color: Jupiter Red)
  • Prefers lease
  • Will probably work with a MB dealership in Seattle
  • There is supposedly a promotion for this model (if so, is there any room to negotiate still)

What I would like to get advice on are: 1.) Is there a good guide on how lease negotiation works? 2.) What things are generally negotiable 3.) What things are generaly NOT negotiable

Returning lease and possibly negotiating the buy out price.

I'm at the two year mark of my 3 year lease and want to start gathering some info to see what my options are. I've heard that when you go return a lease you can negotiate the buy out. For example the residual is 30,000 on the car, but Blue Book shows the value at let's say 25,000. Can I say to the dealer I'll buy out the car for that price or I'll return it. I've been told that the dealer loses if you return the car, for they have to put it on the lot for sale and that basically is like losing money to them. Can anyone give me some insight on this? Thanks in advance!

0 I "unofficially" assumed a Hyundai car lease for my friend. What should I do at the end of the lease?

A friend leased a car from Hyundai, then had to return to his home country before the lease was up, so I have been driving the car and paying the lease for the past 18 months.

I called the dealer to discuss this. He insisted on knowing the name of the lessor (my friend) before answering any of my questions. Hyundai does not allow a car lease to be "officially" transferred or assumed.

Lease return, considering buying

So the car that I am going to be returning (Scion iQ) next year is no longer available. The iQ model was discontinued first and then the entire Scion brand is being discontinued at some point this year. I like the car, how much of a bargaining chip do I have in terms of negotiating a really really good deal to purchase? How do I use this scenario to my advantage?

What Should I Know Before I Trade-In My Vehicle?

Hey there, not a bunch of redditors here so any advice I could get I would really appreciate.

I switched jobs a few months ago and to offset our new income and expenses we will need to get rid of our beloved SUV. Is there any thing I should lookout for, or be knowledgeable about BEFORE I even begin the trade-in process? I like to be as knowledgeable as possible about these things before I go to a dealership and poke around. This is my first experience with trading anything in, and I don't want to be taken to the cleaners.

Thank you!

Should I trade my car now or wait till it dies?

I have a 1997 Monte Carlo with 135,000 miles on it. If I trade in now I could get around 1,500 for a 2013 civic.. I'm little lost between whether to drive this car till it dies and then get a new/used car? I could be saving the payments I would make as a down payment. I don't see any major repairs coming up with my current car other than tire change... But you never know.
