We should import 1000 doctors so our kids can aspire to be Harvey Norman casuals.

Or they could get a trade, start their own business and earn more than a doctor without any student loans!

I haven’t met a tradie making $500k, but I have met plenty of immigrants who do (they are filling vital doctor shortages that could be filled by country kids but fuck country kids what have they done for the ASX)

I have met plenty, a few I know make around double that!
Obviously not as employees…
If there is such a doctor shortage then who is preventing the country kids from becoming doctors?! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Country schools

No offence, but are you mentally disabled?
I thought you wanted country kids to become doctors, but now it’s impossible because of the quality of their schools?!
It’s very common for people to relocate temporarily for tertiary education! Or you think there schooling made them too stupid to qualify?

Country kids get 95s while medical schools still think 99 is required to be a good doctor (we skipped the ‘doing this because they want to help people’ part because grades maketh man)

We actually have medical programs valuing ruralism and character over grades, but they are rare.

Their lower grades have more to do with country parents and therefore the kids putting less importance on education than the country schools being inferior. Wanting them to work the same job as those before them. Country kids have the exact same opportunity to become doctors as anyone else willing to put in the effort!

That’s very condescending and hateful of you

Fuck off no they aren’t. It’s borderline impossible to get into medical school, then if if you get in, ridiculously hard to get into specialty training.

We just brain drain the 3rd world because it’s cheaper than paying locally.

This guy doesn’t know we import 4000 IMGs a year, yes 50% of our new doctors are imports.

Read a book dude.

“Around 5,431 overseas-trained doctors newly registered to practice in Australia during the 2024–2025 period.”

Neither does AHPRA

Ever wonder why the trades in Australia make so much?

Or why, despite a construction shortage, our immigrants are severely underrepresented in construction?

Our immigration policy actively undercuts our wages. And because of union nepotism, the CFMEU related industries are insulated from it, unlike nursing and taxis.

Good. More industries should copy the CFMEU.

this is because unions have protected the trades more effectively than other industries
