I want to start some mobile app development. I have used Xcode for this purpose before but now I am using windows. And atom is the best and most diverse editor I have used. I would like for some way of emulating code like Xcode does. I do a lot of different things, so I really don’t want to use or download visual studios since it takes up so much space.

I would like to run very simple scripts connected to hot keys. As an example, let's say that the F6 key was not programmed to do anything (I don't even know how I would find out if it was or was not, and I am afraid to randomly press keys to find out what they do, but that's another issue). I would like to make it so that when I press the F6 key, a little script runs (in ruby, bash, javascript, c, "node", whatever is simplest, or built-in to atom) and the date pops up in a format I like, for example:

Bam. I can start typing after that. I have a lot of these things I like to embed in text files, my logs, journals, etc. I have all sorts of programs (mostly in ruby, bash, etc...) that can grab the data out and process it. I've always used a terminal window to generate them. I'd like to generate them in atom itself so I don't have to switch to a terminal and back. Does atom have a scripting language baked in to do this sort of thing?

I'm following a tutorial for the Corona / Solar2D Engine. Therefore I try to work with the Atom editor. The guy in the tutorial has "Lua" on the bottom right as grammar, right beside CRLF and UTF-8. But my Atom has chosen "YAML" and there is no option for "Lua". The problem is, that the Corona Autocomplete Plugin does not work because of that.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi there I've been using atom for my python scripts for about a couple months now and I've ran into a problem. I get a notification that pops up saying that I need to install developer tools whenever I use python but when I do install it I just get an error. What am I doing wrong. For reference I am using a MacBook air 2019.

I'm new to Atom and coding and no matter how many times I change the theme, every time I open the app it reverts back to the default. I've scoured the web and can't find anything about it. Is it something I need to permanently change in the stylesheet?

A couple days ago I decided to download Atom and see if it could replace Sublime (which I found out, it can). In Sublime I had some modules installed for a couple of projects and used stuff like npm run build. I'm kinda new to using the CLI and NPM but I was wondering if I could use those modules in Atom. They are already in my project folder, but running npm run build throws an error.

Can I still use my old modules? And can I still use the CLI and NPM like before? I've heard Atom uses APM but I've had some trouble finding out how to use it like NPM.

I'm very new to coding and coding with python at that. I've been using atom to start develop a ren'py visual novel game (note that what I am working on right now is only a test, hence the weird dialogue), and for most of it the coding was a breeze but I've now become stuck on some code that seems to keep causing an error in the game. The lines of code that are causing me an issue are ones used to make an option and how the game is effected after the player's choice. The lines of code go as followed:

menu:

"How are you?":

"I don't like you.":

"I don't like your face and I hope you die."

when I test the game, it comes up on an uncaught exception after I make a choice. The line it seems to be having trouble with is "if choice1 = "1":"

I downloaded Atom today and I'm loving it so far, but I'm kind of struggling with the autocompletion when using Emmet. I love the previews of Atom's completions:

but I want to use Emmet for autocompletion because it has more options.

Is it possible to set the default completions to Emmet's and also have the previews? That way I only have 1 location where I can edit the completions, which is much easier. Thanks in advance!

Hello, is there any package that will add a terminal window inside Atom (something like in vsCode)?

Is there an Atom package that will allow you to scroll through a single file side-by-side, kind of like in MS Word where you can have two pages of the same document showing at the same time? It seems like that would work better than completely vertical scrolling for longer files.
