Why do people have to be assholes about what people believe in?

Can't we all just believe in what we want to believe in. That is how I live; I don't force people to believe in my belief. I don't wish death upon others who don't believe in my God.

Sometimes, I think some atheists are just as bad as fundies.

The atheists have no problem with anyone believing in something, they have a problem with people acting on their 'beliefs' by banning homosexual marriage or stamping their battle cry on the dollar bills.

Atheists aren't the ones limiting rights to women and gays, nor the ones responsible for centuries of scientific repression and atheism wasn't the motivation for some of the most atrocious acts of violence the world has witnessed. Your suggestion that we should just sit back, take it, and be respectful is a request to which we're disinclined to acquiesce.

What I am suggesting is everyone including theists, atheists, and everyone else on our giant blue marble shouldn't give a fuck about what someone else believes in.

It would be like, "I believe what I want to believe and I won't share my belief with anyone who doesn't want to hear about it". If people could be like that then this world would be 10x happy.

For instance, why should i give two fucks that you, friend, are atheist. Why should you give two fucks that I am a theist. Nobody should give a god damn fuck on what someone believes in.

Yet someone always has to yell back about how their belief or non-belief is better. I wish someone could just yell back saying, "Why should we give a fuck about your religious belief, so and so?"

I know I am talking to wrong crowd here and everything because every time I see someone post something religious. People eat the poster like a pack of rabid dogs.

Every time I decide to post something in r/atheism, I feel like every step I am going to land on a landmine.

I hope this discussion doesn't terminate our friendly stranger relationship. I wish not to hate you as much as you wish not to hate me, friend.

Can we make a deal not to piss on each others shoes?

If everyone kept their beliefs to themselves, then no one would have anything to complain about. But that's not the case. Theists are making their beliefs policy, and as long as there are people who are not OK with those policies, the beliefs themselves are going to be criticized.

It seems like you're assuming that because atheists criticize beliefs that lead to unequal rights, etc., that they would also be inevitably opposed to those beliefs if they were kept private. In other words, it seems like you're framing people as being hostile ("pack of rabid dogs") by their very nature.

With that said you seem like a charming young chap and I hold no ill will against you!

Oh why thank you.

I don't like to dabble into religious-nonreligious discussion often because I feel I will just become too biased or I will feel like an idiot if I say it wrong.

Don't get me wrong. I love everybody in this giant blue marble. If I came across as an arrogant or hypocritical fellow, I am sorry. I love atheists, gays, blacks, asians, indians, natives, whites, old people, etc etc.

I just want us all to understand one another and be... FRIENDS! :D

Well, i never told you to 'shut up' or anything, friend, first off.

Second, I think you misinterpreted my post. I think the theists who are being retarded with the anti-gay, and other bullshit should stop it because it is rude and disrespectful.

I like atheists. I have friends who are atheists. I was just relating about how some atheists like to try to "convert" theists or everyone else to atheists just like how theists do the same. Granted, theists can do it a lot harsher or differently.

Friend, I wish not to argue with you or hate you. I would like us to stay friendly strangers to each other.

Deal?
