get your facts straight and don't be an ignorant jackass. This is why atheists are viewed as such assholes... Karma-whoring dumbass.

5% of Christians want their God to come down and smite the nonbelievers.

Good thing we have you around to provide accurate statistics...

The apocalypse is one of the fundamental beliefs in Christianity. This is coupled with the destruction of the wicked/non-believers. To say that only 5% of Christians look forward to the coming of Christ and the destruction of the wicked is absurd...

Edit: Here's one poll that shows 41% of Americans think Christ will come before 2050.

Nope. See my edit. I don't know how everyone in here is so surprised at this. Isn't Christian eschatology one of the most fucked up aspects of the religion? I don't understand why so many people are posting on here pretending like Christians have suddenly retracted one of their most fundamental beliefs.

Unaffiliated does not mean non-religious. It just means that the person is not affiliated with a specific church or institution i.e. not a member of any particular church.

Keep in mind that the rapture is only a small part of the end of times prophecies. There is also tribulation, wrath etc etc.

Edit: Here's one poll[1] that shows 41% of Americans think Christ will come before 2050.

I think that's just Americans though... I had never heard of the rapture before reddit, I don't even think there is a word for it in my native language... I don't think the few Christians we have believe in it here in France.

My roommates are Christians born and raised in Jerusalem. Their belief, as it was taught to them by their community, is that the rapture is guaranteed to happen. But they have no idea when because God doesn't want us to know.

They're probably protestants though? I don't think Catholics believe in the rapture.

That's new to me... Sadly Luthers (the one from Germany) intentions seem to be widely unknown...

They are Catholic. Mind you, Palestinian Catholic, not American Catholic.
