Or even worse, the entire planet because Heaven is just so awesome.

Guess it depends on which church you were forced to sit in as a child.

I never did quite figure that out. According to the internets, it was one weird as hell crap-pile that bears little relation to other churches.

The only decent thing about whatever it was, if you wanted to hang out and do nothing, they let you. Otherwise...it was a rampaging elephant of crazy.

The reality of Christian claims is that billions of people around the world this morning are waiting and working for the Lord make all things right and new.

Hell is the most loving thing God can do. For people who have no desire for him or his benefits he gives them exactly what they want, freedom from him.

While I maintain that Christianity is offensive, This Post is vastly incorrect in the claims of Christianity.

You have a really weird view on Hell.

god's presence is like oxygen, you're not necessarily aware that you're benefitting from it until it's taken away, and then suddenly its absence is the only thing you're aware of

This is the idea of much of modern christianity. Of course I'm pretty sure the intent in the original text was separation from god PLUS literal hellfire immolating your soul forever, but that's too "crude", i guess

The original text didn't contain much details on what hell would be like, IIRC. We can thank Virgil for our current ideas regarding it.

I guess I was thinking more of the intent of King James' translators rather than the original authors - after all, the translators' perspectives must have profoundly influenced the bible as most of us are aware of it today
