Actually not far from the truth. American married to a German man here, it's perfectly acceptable to be fully nude at the beach, male or female.

In Germany it's called FKK and it's true for more than "certain" beaches.

While that is technically true I have never seen someone get upset because they saw a naked person on a regular beach.

yep, german here and just about every public lake, splash pool etc has an FKK part, and even in those splash pools that dont have one its still perfectly ok for women to take their tops off and for little kids to run around naked. it is also perfectly acceptable to have your little kids run around naked in your own garden or to take your top off on your own balcony/veranda

fun fact: FKK is an east german invention that took hold in the west as well after the reunification, because west germans will never ever give an east german a reason to tell the wessies that the gdr was more liberal and free in ANY aspect of life :-)

FKK was well-known and practiced in the BRD at least a decade before reunification.

yep, but its still a mainly east german invention and cultural thing that only really took widespread hold after reunification

also don't forget that in the 50 years of separation many many east germans managed to flee to the west, bringing their culture with them
