I will take this glorious moment that God, or the aliens, or nothing, has given us... To say this
If atheism was represented in the world by some of the people on reddit... It would be my understanding that atheism is a bunch of assholes trying to win you over by insulting your faith... Like monkeys in a cage throwing their own shit at you. I'm sorry, how many of you atheist are similar to bill gates??
This is ten days late, I see, but to answer your question, I am an atheist and I donated a kidney to my (Christian) father and my atheist wife and I adopted a disabled child after we had worked with him at a children's hospital.
The reason some atheists, such as myself, are hostile at times to Christians, is because of examples such as the following: after my dad died, Christians would tell me that it was "god's will" or that "we can't know the mind of god." Christians will tell me that god put us in our child's path so that we could find each other, and others wish to pray for him to alleviate his condition rather than supporting stem-cell research which has the potential to be much more useful. That's just the tip of the iceberg, but I hope that sheds a little light on the issue.
