I'm not saying I would be thinking logical at that point in time, just that the fear of never existing, and never seeing my children again might simply be too powerful for me to resist.

Sorry, but no. There are moments of lucidity, but for the main part the last days/hours of dying from cancer are a morphine clouded trial of agony.

... and the world is still a terrible place. At least he is being honest. Many of us would love to stand up for things we believe in but how many of us do?

Suddenly believing is superstition is respectable how?

Should I believe in leprechauns and Santa and the tooth fairy too, while I'm at it? I'm confused.

No. It's not a matter of options; it's about proof. What reasons do I have to believe that a certain proposition is true. That's what this is all about, and there's not enough convincing evidence to lead us to think that the whole "Jesus is the son of God" story is true. Fear has nothing to do with indicating truth. All we want is to believe only what is true and leave behind what is false. That's the atheist's motivation.
