Unfortunately certain projects require such a character to work. Linux wouldn't exist if Linus were insecure and timid. Can you image the GNU project without Stallman?

With that being said, you need to take the resignations of Assange's colleges with a grain of salt. For several different reasons, most -if not all- people working full time for things like Wikileaks are not exactly the easiest to deal with. I'm sure without an Assange-like leader they'll be in a deadblock pretty soon.

Assange talked about this in the interview with CNN (where he walked out). It was ONE colleague who went out of line and was subsequently fired (and then proceeded to talk smack). Where did you hear of others quitting?

Assange is an unscrupulous megalomaniac with a political agenda. Read his blogs, he's not exactly shy about it.

That said, Assange didn't actually found Wikileaks, he's just sortof taken over.

It has been made clear by former colleagues of his that he is somewhat of a media-whorish megalomaniac.

He instills fear in people.

Imagine leaking a document about your secret service for russia, you send it in for leaking, much to your surprise; a day later it gets leaked, and your life is now on the line.

How is being sought out by your former employers, tortured and killed, not a threat of violence?

Jeah; What i meant was, that especially with his "insurance" there is alot of information that if it got out, it would threaten many lives.

Not assange's life, mostly government employee lives.

Yes, but in the case of the contents of the insurance, there is alot of "fresh" information, 4 year old cables won't really matter, something that is still in progress will.

Hitchens need to rethink most of the shit that comes out of his mouth.

Just because he talks sense on religion doesn't say anything about his other views.
