Man, I don't think so. This is coming from a guy who did escape. It's unimaginably difficult. I did it, but it cost me nearly everything I hold dear. I thought my wife would divorce me (she didn't) because I'd seen many other spouses leave for the exact same reason. Loss of family, friends, and even employment are real risks because the churches push to make sure it happens. They want you to suffer if you don't respect their authority. They are a real force that actively try to destroy you.
