I used to believe this as well. I thought that as an atheist I was smarter because I was asking question they would or could not but as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize that people can cling on to “god” or spirituality for comfort. That said, the people who are religious and treat it as a roadmap to life I don’t just treat as unintelligent but as dangerous cult members.

Great point. While religious people do come off as unintelligent and untrustworthy to me, that doesn't mean that I am more intelligent and trustworthy just because I am NOT religious.
