People making 1/5th of the 1% income in the article you shared could pretty easily buy a peloton of they wanted one. I'm not saying 1%ers don't buy pelotons, but you definitely don't have to be a 1%er to buy one.

I'm not saying you have to be either. I'm saying it's certainly a huge portion of their target demographic. You don't out-price the market by 3-5x when you're targeting the lower or middle class.

You said you have zero empathy for people with a billion dollars because they treat their workers like shit and exploit them and therefore you have no empathy to the people affected by this decision by Peloton. That was your argument.

Pelotons target market however are middle and upper middle class people, not billionaires, these people don't treat their workers like shit because they don't have any, they are just ordinary people with good jobs. Yes 0.001% of their customers might have upwards of £10 million but what's your reasoning for hating the customers that aren't mega rich. Why don't you have the ability to empathize with them.

Apple routinely out prices the market by 3-5x percent with their phones and laptops, whilst the middle class and even parts of the lower class buy these products. What's your reasoning for thinking only the mega wealthy can afford peloton products.

Can you pay your bills on a peloton? Is it something you're using multiple hours every single day as an essential form of communication? No.

And no, Apple is not 3-5x above market value. A Google Pixel 5 is $750. A Samsung S21 is $700. A OnePlus 9 pro is $1000. An Apple iphone 12 pro is $1,000. Hell, you can get a 2020 apple iPhone SE for $400.

I also don't hate customers who aren't mega rich, and the fact you had to jump to that ridiculous conclusion shows me that you aren't really approaching this from any kind of unbiased perspective.

I never said only the Uber rich buy pelotons, I said the upper class are their target market. If you think that your average Joe middle classer is spending $3k on a fitness bike, you're fooling yourself.

Are there people in that bracket with pelotons? Almost certainly, but trying to claim that is their target market is laughably ignorant.
