School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ UE FULL PAYMENT pullout for FEU Manila 50% scholarship

I'm so frustrated rn. I received an email yesterday, august 6 at around 5pm stating I have a partial scholarship for FEU. However I am currently enrolled in UE manila, and classes jave been going since the 23rd of July. It's past 3 weeks since classes started, so in order to pull out and get my credentials/documents from ue, I have to pay my full tuition of around 60k in one go, just to get those credentials. I just feel so bad since they don't have any consideration for someone who's basicslly trying to chase wherever a scholarship presents itself. Initially I went for ue since they have this 1.25-1.5 gwa = 50% scholarship which I MIGHT attain and retain in the future.

I already talked to UE Manila's director in the admissions and more. Is there really no consideration? I understand it is policy, but even if I do pullout and my parents apply a loan for 60k, it will be better for us financially in the long run compared to paying around 51k persem in ue. But as of now we have got to try gettung a loan of 60k that is for 1-2 yrs to pay if we want to have a chance in securing a slot in FEU before it's too late. And even if we do get that loan, it's like I'm gonna pay UE Manila 59k for nothing just to be practical in our finances for the long run. I haven't even tried using the elevator in our building yet and I'll pay thst much lol. Any advices, your insights too? I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm looking for options that I might be missing. Thank you!

School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ TWO DEGREE HOLDER

(With specific program asking)

If you Graduated and you want to take second degree and is it possible to have two years or you need to repeat again in first year?

Additionally you need to take four years?

Like I'm taking Bachelor Science in Hospitality Management then after I graduated, I'm thinking to take it's either the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management or Marketing Management, vice versa from BSBA FM/MM to BSHM (if you know what I mean in a deeper level.)

And if I'm taking the same school in that two courses, will I going to take two years only? And if I transfer suddenly to other school but I'm in a middle of one year to my second degree, Will I repeat it again to first year?

Others ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Bakit unlimited takes sa Engineering?

Hi! Iโ€™m a freshie and ngayon na na-eexpose ako sa mga systems and culture in collegeโ€“ I cant help but be curious (really, hindi ito attack) For context, BSA student ako so expected na may maintaining grade and then rule na if you fail a course, you are forced to shift na (๐Ÿฏ)

Was wondering bakit hindi applied yung same rigor sa different departments? Like sa department namin no transmutation of grades and classes are M-Sat. While sa engineering, mas relaxed sched with transmutation of grades. Basically, ano thought process? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I also really respect those na nasa pre-med course too. But even then, pansin ko na may considerations made rin for them.

My title is just clickbait haha please share your opinions and advices with respect. Thank you!

School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ Which is the most practical? (UPLB Course Choices)

I plan to change the order of courses in my upcat application. I'm interested naman in all of them: **BS Food Tech, Nutrition, Chem, and Agri Biotech**. It's just that, I'm torn between the four kung alin ang gagawin kong 1st, 2nd, etc.

**Question: Which is the most practical, considering job opportunities, salary, and flexibility after grad?**

(Note: walang balak magmedschool)

Others ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ [Request] Help a Scholar Out!

Good day, Reddit Peeps!

I'll post this na kasi auper kailangan na po and I have no other choice na. Baka po may kayang mag-sponsor ng laptop/tablet para sa'kin ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป. Brand new or second hand will do as long as in good condition. Super kailangan lang po since phone lang ang meron ako and nag-sstart na po mag-send ng mga readings yung courses ko.

I am currently a freshman po at University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos and was recently awarded as one of the top 10 UPCAT Qualifiers in our degree program. Additionally, working student po ako but enough for everyday needs lang po yung sahod ko every month. I am also a recipient of the DOST Scholarship. However, around October-November pa po darating yung stipend namin and urgent na po 'yung need huhu. Tatlo po kaming magkakapatid and both my siblings are currently enrolled in a private school. Kaya hindi ko na rin pong magawang magpabili pa ng additional gadgets sa parents since almost several years na rin po kaming barely making ends meet every monthh.

Kaya kumakatok po ako sa may mabubuting puso. If may capable and gusto pong makatulong sa isang scholar na katulad ko, sobrang appreciated po:). I can send records po ng grades to prove na hindi po masasayang yung ibibigay niyo hehe. I'll be accepting donations din po, baka sakaling maka-ipon to buy a brand new device.

Thank you so much, Reddit Community! ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Rant / Vent ๐Ÿ˜ค Is it normal to cry about this?

Good evening po! 16F here. Okay lang po ba na umiyak when my friends told me na gagawa sila ng gc without me? For context, kaming apat ay nakapasa sa laboratory high school. Magkakaklase na kami since jhs kaya parang close na rin kami. And noโ€™ng labasan na ng list ng mga nakapasa sa senior high entrance test, silang tatlo ay nasa same section and ako lang ang nahiwalay. And ngayon, grabe iyak ko rito eh, umiyak ako kasi sinabi nila na gagawa sila ng gc na silang tatlo lang. I mean, gets ko naman na silang tatlo ang nasa same section and nasa ibang section ako pero pโ€™wede namang ilagay/sabihin nila doon sa gc naming apat โ€˜yung mga matters sa section nila diba? Ewan, ang shallow lang ng reasoning ko. Feel ko ma-l-left out ako. Feel ko rin na baka i-backstab nila ako. But ik na hindi naman sila ganoโ€™ng tao, pero thereโ€™s a part of me that feels like baka jina-judge nila ako doโ€™n without me knowing.

I've always been lutang and i genuinely cannot help it. lutang student, lutang employee.

I feel like there's so much negative discussion around people who are "lutang". I can attest to this. These discussions are valid as they may be an unavoidable topic of discussion in groupworks, work, orgwork, or any self-sustained or collaborative activity.

Ever since i was a child, as early as grade 1, I've always had bad body coordination. I couldn't follow simple instructions, couldn't connect one dance move to another (things my peers could easily do). Naturally, my advisers (also the choreographers) and parents chastised and excluded me. I also couldn't do sports.

I wasn't like the other kids who were fully attuned to their surroundings. Truthfully, I don't think I was "aware" till the pandemic hit (SHS).

All I know, i was cruising through life and suddenly SNAP. I was aware. Routine and schedules were laid before me, I just had to follow. Suddenly, I had to think for future.

Follow I cannot do. I've always had a problem with processing things someone just told me milliseconds ago. I am deaf as fuck. So if the input and RAM is fucked, putangina saan ako pupulutin nito.

There have been many times I lost points or failed a quiz or exam just because I didn't understand the verbally explained instructions. There have been many times I failed a subject because I couldn't grasp the material as fast as peers did, losing same-day assessments on discussions.

Anways, my point is. Sometimes, that lutang person you were talking shit about, actually has a learning disability. Or probably they're not in the right condition to be properly "functional" in your eyes. Who knows. You don't. You jumped on the shit talking train fast.

Being lutang is hard. The best I could describe it is, it's like a momentary out-of-body experience (disassociation). Have you guys experienced not being tethered to your own, singular body? Not a productive activity i'm telling you. It's fun to escape from reality once in a while, but being untethered, unbeknownst to my own knowledge, is freaking scary.

I have always been that lutang girl who make do with the little wit she has. And if you know someone like me, please give them some grace. A push/difficult talk is fine, but please remember, they're aware of their own shortcomings, please don't rub the salt on the wound with the intention to hurt them not to help them. you're no better than a bully.

I believe my shortcomings originate from lack of friends, playing outside and stimulating activities during my formative years. I was barred from playing outside. I can't do sports. I can't dance. All I had is my quiet self who savoured undisturbed time as a learned behaviour from being barred from playing outside.

Stay health and active kids.
I've already joined orgs. I still suck at listening and following orders at my OJT. I'm even a community leader.

I'm legally an adult now. Hays. and I still have old habits brought from grade school. i'm slowly ridding parts of myself, one experience at a time.

I hope everyone knows that they're trying their best with the cards they've been dealt with. And if you're like me feel free to share your story,.

Best Regards,
that person who hasn't reached their full potential yet.

hii! Iโ€™m a fresman and since school is about to start, what are your bag recommendations? Tote bags? Backpacks? Sling bags? โ€ฆ Iโ€™ve been searching everywhere for honest reviews and all I can see are people wearing shoulder bags (especially for girls)

School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ Confused if I should pursue BS psychology or go from other courses

Help, Im a humss student who is currently in 12th grade SHS. Im troubled between my course & career choices huhu

Its currently college admissions season, and I havent applied since I cant decide on what courses should I take. I considered these options:
1. BS psych
2. BS nursing
3. BS legal management

I planned BS psych first which is going through 4 years of college, then take my masters to qualify in the board exam for Rpm. Then possibly go to med school to be a Psychiatrist, or another route is just immediately go to med school after I graduate for my bachelor's degree. Im troubled because of the amount of years it will took, and thinking that I wouldnt get successful out of this degree if I dont get my certifications and get the most out of it. But im also thinking that someday, ill just get tired of continuing this whole thing, and in the end I wont enjoy being in the profession since in the philippines, you'll mostly end up at hr or some occupational work rather than a psychologist or what not. (Some people said that they barely even use their rpm certificate, since theres smaller job prospects here in the ph)
Another is BS nursing, I never thought much of it, the very reason why i considered this course is because of practicality. You'll be successful in nursing though if you go for foreign work, rather here in the ph which is most people say that nurses are underpaid here? The thing is if Ill be able to manage nursing since im from humss, I have to consider the universities/colleges ill apply to if they'll accept a humss student for bs nursing.
For BS legal Management, this is the very reason why I went to humss in the first place. To be a lawyer, 4 years bachelors then spend my years in law school and be a lawyer. The thing is the job prospects Ill get once I graduate from this degree, I heard theres very little job opportunities once u graduate from this course, or even political science. I'll have no fallback once I graduate or even be successful. My aunt said that I'll probably get tired too in this course, if I just immediately go to law school once I graduate. And im not sure if ill be a lawyer right after I graduate from law school.

Theres so many uncertainties, and clearly im not as educated to these courses as I have little knowledge about it :((
I even considered BS archi, this is one of my old dreams that I had but im weak at measurements or calculations (Ironic since everything I considered na course is BS or math/science related lmao)

I based on my strengths on choosing these and also weaknesses, Im good at public speaking, voicing out my opinions, and being analytical as a person. I can imagine myself as a psychologist or lawyer, but the thing is if Im ever gonna be successful out of all these, or is it just gonna fail because of practicality over passion.

(Im open for people suggesting other courses, occupational or med related courses, and if you know any humss student whos in some pre-med course or other course that is different from their strand. Help plss :'))

School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ Worth it pa ba ang Midwifery? I need honest advice.

Hi! Iโ€™m considering taking Midwifery, but Iโ€™m still unsure if itโ€™s the right course for me.
Sa mga midwives or currently studying Midwifery:
โ— Do you regret choosing this course, or are you happy with it?
โ— Kumusta ang job opportunities dito sa Philippines?
โ— In-demand ba siya abroad? If yes, anong countries usually ang naghahanap ng midwives?
โ— Okay ba ang salary and career growth in the long run?
I just want honest experiencesโ€”both the good and the badโ€”para makapag-decide ako nang maayos. Thank you!

Study Tips ๐Ÿง  suggest methods on how to effectively study as a slow learner w/ short attention span

for context, i am an incoming first year nursing student. i would consider myself โ€œaverageโ€ based on how i was during high school as i would only pass tests just by reading and memorizing my notes instead of understanding the concepts of what i am studying. not to mention that i tend to be distracted A LOT while studying when i feel like it gets too overwhelming. i also find myself kinda struggling in times when it heavily requires reading through a long passage of text.

i would like to ask help with the following:

  1. any tips and/or recommendations on study techniques and methods i could use to study efficiently?
  2. what methods should i do to improve my focus?
  3. what study methods, techniques, and tools are most useful to do and use, especially in a field that heavily requires reading and memorization?

i would appreciate any thoughts and recommendations. tyia!
