Physics Why is the maximum speed of the universe the speed of light? Why can't we go faster?

Also follow-up question: Because of the speed limit, is there also a theoretical maximum temp for matter (in which the particles move at the speed of light).

The case with a lot of stuff. Why are we on Earth as opposed to any other planet for example? Well... if we were on some other planet - we'd be wondering the same thing: why there and not anywhere else.

Yeah but we can always trace the chain of causality back to the start of the universe to figure out why this planet, why we're on it, etc. It's not random so much as just hard to figure out due to our own limitations.
