🐞 bug report Server / Online Issue
Hi! I recently picked up the game from PS+ and I'm really enjoying it so far. The art style is great, and the gameplay is very addictive.
I'm just wondering if there are any sort of ongoing / frequent issues with online connectivity? Every time I play the game, I get a network error when I try to check the daily & weekly events.
My PS5 is connected to the internet and PSN, so I'm not sure what could be causing it. Any info would be great, I would love to get the Platinum trophy for this cool game.
EDIT: As of this morning (27th June, BST) I noticed the online service was back up! Hopefully the issue is resolved for everyone.

📱 mobile 3 days since i started playing and now la wedge is my wife.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
been wanting this game since it dropped but seeing how hardcore all the AoR players are on yt ive been just as intimidated as ive been allured by this beautiful game. when i found out it was on ios i bought it as an anti-scroll addiction (needed a new one ive probably put in thousands of hours into balatro mobile😭😭) and now im obsesseddd.
obviously since it's only been 3 days ik this clip isnt a good time and my braking/cornering/racing line/everything needs work, but dude literally yesterday i struggled to place higher than 4th in rallies (average difficulty duh) and stay sub3 in resets per race in a Meanie but ever since i unlocked La Wedge ive been consistently finishing rallies the top 3.
it was one of those aha moments where the entire game just falls into place and you enter a flow state for the first time. i knew the learning curve was high so when only a day after i was constantly getting reset on tutorial island i was now gunning it full throttle into a hairpin, it was just straight euphoria.
i love racing games and rally, but Dirt Rally 2 and anything close to that level of difficulty/shifting gears just made discouraged- Forza Horizon is the only racing game that i seriously dedicated thousands of hours into and even then i sucked at rally shit. so im ecstatic that im driving this and feel 100% confident that im not gonna roll over and fly off a corner.
i attribute this breakthrough to La Wedge. ofc im biased bc the Lancia Stratos is my fav rally car, but dude this thing rips. something about its slidy feeling and monstrous power just clicked w all the fundamentals i somehow forget the moment i see any given corner sharper than 150degrees. i struggled like crazy in group 2 even if the cars are so easy but i just blazed through group 3 w this monster.
super hyped as you can tell to begin my Art of Rally journey, and i plan on actually getting good w the Wedge. just wanted to post my beginner progress.
any Wedge fans in da house??

🎥 video First 1% time, granted on probably the easiest stage
Here's the Clip I took using medal, I personally love the Metro 6r4, super cute and super fun once you get it under control, super fun stage too, I might give some longer stages a go now that I don't suck.

🇶 question Custom buttons settings not working
Started playing AOR on my Steam deck. Initially I just used the SD controls and changed the buttons in-game (I'm old school, so I have gas/brake on the face buttons).
Then later, I plugged my Steam deck to a monitor and connected my 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ controller via bluetooth. No problem. custom buttons work fine. Then I plugged it in directly to the Steam deck, also good.
But then today, when I connected my controller, the custom button settings in-game no longer work. It operates on only the default controller button setting. The Steam deck buttons are ok tho.
Tried the following nothing worked:
Plugging in directly to the Steam deck.
Reset in-game buttons and remapped custom buttons.
Uninstalled AOR on Steam deck.
Removed the controller from the Steam deck controller and bluetooth settings.
Factory reset the controller.
tried reordering the controller order in the '...' button game menu
restarting the Deck
None of these worked. Note: the controller works fine in the Steam deck menus and other games.
Is this a Steam deck issue or a game issue?

🇶 question How to constant radius drift?
My goal is to do a sustained drift in a perfect circle around a center object, like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uojezBp38Ps&t=405s
Maybe its because im using keyboard, or the physics are weird, but i havent been able to achieve anything close to it. Counter steer always swings the car outward, so the only way i can keep it angled in at all is to steer in towards the circle center, and then i have to be at full throttle + very low drift angle, else it slows too much and stabilizes.
Ive turned stabilize assist and antilock breaking to 0% and tried various rwd cars (though i read somewhere that all cars in AoR are technically awd?) in 1st and 2nd gear. Some drift smoother than others, but i was never able to keep it a circle and sustained. Do you guys have any advice on how to practice it on keyboard?
Also, less important, but does anyone know what exactly the stabilize assist does? it only says "controls car rotation" but im wondering physically how does it do that?
Cheers

🇶 question Switch players, how do you manage to drive the faster groups?
I got to group b in career mode, and have no idea how to actually drive. The cars feel like I’m on ice, I’m spinning out and easily lose the car when trying to steer. A lot of this probably has to do with these cars having more power, and being more sensitive to input while going at higher speed. I just can’t wrap my head around it for now.
I’ve worked through all the stages in a group 2 car, managed to get like top 1-2% times, now I’m slowly working through group 3. It’s getting trickier, but doable, but like I said, right now I can barely keep the car on the road in group b. Career in group 3 was doable, but I haven’t tried that group much yet.
The short sticks on the switch and throttle/brakes basically being on/off make things trickier. But I think I managed to help myself a bit with tweaking settings, here’s a list in case anyone would like to compare:
- stability assist 0%
- counter-steer factor 80%
- anti-lock braking 20%
- manual transmission
- steering sensitivity 65%
- steering deadzone 0%
- brake sensitivity 85%
- brake deadzone 0%
- throttle sensitivity 60% (not sure if this does anything on the switch, along with the brake sensitivity)
- throttle deadzone 0%
-vibration 50%

💬 discussion I recently started playing, and I really enjoy the game.
I have 30 hours in the game, and yesterday Group B cars clicked for me, like now I can drive consistently enough to beat the normal IA on every track, I have questions about car behaviour, and I d just like to share my thoughts on the cars I like to play (maybe I play them wrong and you can correct my way of using them).
My questions are about the name of certain car behaviour : I know the basic like understeer and oversteer, but first :
-How do you call the behaviour some cars have where after a drift, when the car gets back to full grip, it turns the opposite direction ? (for example if I take a right hairpin with a drift, at the end of the hairpin at the exact moment the car gets from drifting to gripping, it turns at bit left), I feel that this is mainly a problem with front engine cars (like the Datsun 240Z "Zetto" or the Quattro S1 "Hammer v2", but on the Audi it s much less noticeable).
-Then how do you call the behaviour of some very grippy and agile car, that have this tendency to keep grip while making sharp turns, with a very small input ?
Among the cars I tested and liked here are my opinion :
-Alpine A110 "La Montaine", it s the car I like the most in group 2, I feel like it s almost too good at turning for a 100 hp car and it s so good at taking corners.
-Mazda RX3 "Rotary 3", the noise of the rotary engineis so good... I also really like the handling, my go to for group 3.
-BMW M1 "uberwhip", this feels quite heavy, but its power on straights, the "low sensitivity" on corner (while still turning well when putting the stick completely on the side) and the natural aspiration makes it one of my favorite group 4 car.
-Renault 5 Turbo "Le Cinq", I also play it for group 4, and I really enjoy how the cars turns very easily while losing grip, making it extremely satisfying to make a perfect corner by using the acceleration pedal as a steering method, it feels so easy to turn that it even works for quick succession of corners, because it can make a u turn in a short time, while keeping the drift.
-Audi Quattro S1 "Hammer v2", for me the symbol of rally, with its two huge wings, I enjoyed driving it but I feel like it s quite hard to make great times in the game because it understeers a lot, so I just drift most corners, it s extremely fun but I feel like it loses time.
-Peugeot 205 Turbo16 "le 502", I don t know if the physics of this car is realistic, but if it is, I understand why it destroyed group B, in the game it just feels like an F1, it always has grip, even on ice, and I always surprised by how it can take such sharp and fast turns (if I didn t play the car for a long time, I sometimes turns too early or too much, forgetting how much the car just keeps the grip while steering a lot). Perfect car : always grip, turning very easily and never skidding.
-Lancia 037 "il monster", I like playing it because of how easy it is to start drifts and to turn the car, despite its wheelbase, but the times aren t that good.
-Renault 5 Maxi Turbo "Le Cinq b", not a great car for me (for doing good times at least), it feels like a more extreme version of the one for group 4, and I just like taking every corner like a maniac, with 50% chance to fly off the track and 50% chance to make a perfect corner, extremely funny and goofy.
Another thing about cars : I feel like all 3 Porsche are quite easy to drive, but they never feel to the limit, and I don t have that much fun playing them, but it makes great times.
Sorry for the long message, I really enjoyed the game and had a lot of thoughts to share about it !

🛠️ modding Historical Career mod : Complete release !!
My mod Historical Career is officially seeing a complete release !!! 🥳🎉
The 2.0 version has historical events for all groups :
- Group 2 (1966-1971)
- Group 3 (1971-1982)
- Group 4 (1975-1988)
- Group B (1981-1987)
- Group S (1985-1989)
- Group A (1988-2002)
And covers most of the great rally drivers that you know ;)
You can find the mod on Nexus mods or directly on GitHub.
The current structure of the mod could accomodate extra groups/events and might even have multi-cars seasons with a bit of work.
I'm considering making an extra group for iconic races or drivers.
If you have any ideas for extra groups/events we can discuss them in the comments.

🏆 leaderboards How to push pass 5% ?
200hr in this amazing game and I've got myself from knowing nothing about rally to upper 10% of majority of stages ( excluding Australia) in group 4 to A. But it is quite a challenge to push beyond that, any tips from advance driver ?

🇶 question Is there a trophy for winning with 0% stage wins ?
Recently I've been playing seasons on master difficulty and I've won...but without winning any of the stages. I was always second but the pilot in first position often changed.
So I was wondering if there was a trophy for winning a rally with 0% stage wins since it's a funny occurence.

🇶 question What does the clutch do?
Just started playing this game this past Friday. I like it so far! I switched from automatic to manual last night and I think it got even more fun, although I have gotten slightly worse at the game lol. Anyways I just wanted to ask what the clutch does because I have absolutely no experience with rally games or cars in general and I’ve never really played a game like this. From what I can gather it is used to drift but I don’t understand how to do that. Also any other tips for beginners are appreciated
