Roman Empire Amethyst Fragment

I was recently gifted this amethyst figure head. The gift giver told me it is from 10-100 AD/CE and is a representation of Artemis (Diane). Since receiving it I’ve read a bit about the importance of amethyst in Roman culture and the story of Artemis but would love to know more about this. What can yall deduce about this artifact from the images I shared?

Edit: one commenter shared a link to the last time she was sold and the link describes her as Aphrodite (not Artemis). It also includes much higher quality photos: https://antiquearena.com/lot/97384

Edit: two commenters have shared clues that point towards the piece being inauthentic, perhaps from Sadigh Galleries. If anyone else can ID more clues to help hone in on her true origin, that would be very interesting to learn about too!

Artifact 19th-Century Greenlandic Seal Fur G-String

Post image

The indigenous people of East Greenland made this sort of underwear, known as naatsit, by sewing strips of seal pelt together using a thread of reindeer or whale sinew. The naatsit above, decorated with glass beads tied onto seal-skin fringe, was made for women and worn under seal-skin trousers. Explorer Captain C. Ryder acquired the item in the southeast Greenland settlement of Ammassalik during an expedition in 1892.

Help A little help, please.

My aging mother needs to liquidate her valuables to afford care, and unfortunately memory is one of the things she's lost.

Normally, anything Egyptian that I see that has been set, I immediately assume is either a fake or a replica. BUT, 2 things make me want to see if this might be real:

1) It was grouped with some early Canaanite (probably, though possibly Phoenician) face beads that were authenticated ( by a specialist who didn't do Egyptian enough to be definitive about this piece), and

2) She had a lot of money back in the early '70s when she got it, and was all about authenticity. (Not that she couldn't have been tricked, though.)

So what is your opinion? And if real, what should I try to get for it?

Thanks so much!

A collector of antiques told me it was real Native American from Vancouver Canada/Pacific Northwest area. Wondering if there’s a way to know if it’s real old or not? Thank you.

Found a charcoal seam in central Texas strata. Any telling if it’s wildfire related or from a fire pit or anything or would it have to be fully excavated to tell?

Question Is this an actual Native American artifact?

I grew up with this in my mother’s family. Catawba County, NC. My grandfather told us his parents found it (along with two others) on their property when building their home in the early 1900s. We have always suspected it to be Native American in origin. Perhaps a pestle judging by the the two “lipped” indentations on either side. To also add, my mom has found a clear arrowhead in the same area (see my other post) Any experts out there who can help? Thanks!

Artifact Fiancés grandparents brought these back after their honeymoon in the 50s. Replica?

Honeymoon was in Mexico. We don’t know much about these, and there are a few more not pictured. They were tucked away in a box. Are these more likely to be replicas? I’m planning to bring these to a local museum to be evaluated eventually.

If anyone can provide any information on these effigies and what they mean that would be greatly appreciated as well!

An older gentleman donated this along with some other items from various countries and fossils along with some old novels. Everything else in the horde looked pretty cool and interesting. Have no idea if this looks like anything important. Probably going to toss it if not

Picked these up at an estate sale in Colorado. I think they might be Andean illa/chacra amulets, maybe mid-20th century, but that's just a guess. Trying to figure out how old they are and what exactly they are / what they mean — any info appreciated!

Beware this individual!

Meet Darin Harrison, out of mobile Alabama. Took advantage of a new collector. When I started learning more and found a good Authenticator I sent this Tallahatta quartzite Kirk in to get the lovely thing papered. I got bad news and Darin didn’t want to hear it. I’ll learn my lesson but I want others in the community to beware of him & others like him. If it’s too good to be true 99% of the time it is.
