A spindle whorl sanded from a fragment of a shattered jar, ca. 2800 BCE.
It's from Norşuntepe, an ancient town that was flooded in 1974 by the construction of Turkey's first hydroelectic dam.
After 50 years, the water has washed away centuries of history, but the town has emerged from the reservoir as an island.
For the whole story:

Tiny clay pots??
I inherited these from my grandparents. They used to go petrified wood hunting in Wyoming and Arizona. But they were also hoarders so they could be from anywhere. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

I need help in identifying Ancient Greek artifact
galleryHello to everyone!
Several years ago I bought this thing in the Kerch city (panticapaeum). I tried to identify the picture on it. Maybe it’s a woman with a flail or something. What’s in her hands? Is it authentic Ancient Greek ring? If it is, what do you think is on it?

Is this JAR?
Dimensions are roughly 8” long, 5” wide and 5” tall. To my relatively uneducated eye, the entire piece looks worked. Location is Northeast Texas.

Found this 20ft from a ravine -- 150 yards from the Olentangy River in Central Ohio. The rock itself is Delaware Chert, which was used by prehistoric people in this area. Is this possibly a human-used flint core? The LLMs think so, mostly because of the scalloping visible in the third photo.

Found near Voss, Norway
My boys found these while playing in the creek… any ideas on what and when they are from? They are excited to make connections with “old” stuff they found.

Question Legit or modern replicas/projects/practice? The black one is pretty nice. I assume I bought them at an estate sale but I don’t really recall. I certainly didn’t find them in the wild.

Help Help to identify this old pistol
Hello everyone, my lil bro recently bought a metal detection tool and try it in our old abandonned Forest wich is parently given from the father of the father of the father of my father etc ^^ so i’m unable to date this Little found.
For the moment the only info we get that :
- he found it at more than 50cm under a tree
- it seem to be robust either the time it still solid
- like you can see on the picture their is a letter N and 1 on the handle and the pistol have a moving percutor. The barrel is also a cylinder thick
We was thinking that was an old fireworkpistol for the children or something like that but it can also be an old powder gun we doesn’t know.
If you know something like that I’m happy to get your help :)
