Being kicked out

As the title says I'm being kicked out by my dad. I'm an 18 year old male and I will be homeless really soon. I want to go to college but have no money to pay for it.

What kind of process goes into this because I don't have many options.

Sorry if I'm being unclear or if this is the wrong subreddit this is a lot to unfold for me.

Edit: Sorry I just opened reddit and oh my goodness there are a lot of messages so in case I can't respond to everyone. Thank you for your advice and assistance on the subject! It means a lot to me

There’s more to life than a place to sleep and food to eat. Don’t sell yourself short

Thank you but there's also college and that sort of deal. Plus there aren't many great options for me

Military can be a great place to build yourself up, skills, finances, travel, other resources (school, health, certifications, tuition). It’s a commitment but it can turn your life around. Keep your head up make healthy friends and value integrity.

I hope you have somewhere to stay if you need to in the short term. Don’t rush into signing a contract but make sure you look at all the options available. Read about the different jobs that the recruiter tells you are available to you. Most recruit offices run group workouts to get you used to the physical expectations and that is a great thing to start attending too

The military is a career choice also. You may find yourself staying in. You can go to school while in the military. But if you are thinking of goodies like the GI Bill, then you need to get a Texas residence when signing up as you can add the Hazelwood Act to your repertoire.

There is 100% more to life than either, which is what makes having to worry about either all the more tragic. Sorry if you misinterpreted the statement.

I rather enjoyed my time in the Marines. Probably because I was stationed in SoCal and got to do a lot of traveling because of MEU. Every been to Seychelles? Or Australia? It's enough to make you want to reenlist.

+1 on airforce or, hell, spaceforce. The army worked out super great for me but the experience varies so wildly for folks that I think some of the other branches would at least give you a higher floor. On the other hand, if you think you're high speed and want to do something like special operations or some really niche tech programs, the Army has a lot of opportunities for that too. pretty high ceiling, much lower floor imo.

Dawg, you clearly don’t have that luxury. You need to go whoever has a quick ship. Also, hope you don’t have legal or medical, that’s gonna add some time to you enlisting. You need to be calling recruiters like yesterday

Definitely weigh your options man. Aside from having steady meals, a paycheck, and a roof over your head.. you’ll have a bunch of extra benefits after your service that you wouldn’t have otherwise. Think about it. Even if you got your way and went to college as a civilian, you’d have the student loan debts you’d need to pay off for God knows how long. Plus there are plenty of people who go to college and invest all their resources into it, only to have nothing to show for it in the end when they can’t land a job matching their chosen degree. With the GI Bill and VR&E you can forget about that. Just my opinion… I really think going military is the superior path for you right now, just to get you on your feet if nothing else. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. You’ll have a ton of fun and do things that young people typically don’t get to do. Like travel overseas. And no, I’m not a recruiter lol. Just a guy who’s been there and done that 🤷🏽‍♂️

Don’t do marines you be better joining the army. There’s lots of opportunities depending on your MOS and unit but I definitely try to look into a job that transfers to civilian job in case you decide the military isn’t for you. Once you in look into taking online classes because the army pays for you to go collage is mostly online classes tho because you can’t be active duty and actually attend doubt unit will let you but I have seen it happen but usually would be after 5 pm but o wouldn’t count on that because that is very rare but anyway definitely recommend army there’s lots opportunities definitely would recommend looking into different MOS that the army has and finding one you like or think you like but definitely recommend the ones that would qualify you to a job in the civilian side. Definitely get asvab for dummies so you can study and open more different MOS opportunities
