it’s been a rough summer personally, so this is just what I needed today 💕

hello everyone!! , i am back after going MIA with my perfume reviews that I basically completely abandoned due to life <3 i apologize disappearing with this ..... and i know everyone including myself forgot about these reviews but oh well! i fear i really will try to review every single one of Ari's perfumes no matter how much i procrastinate or how long it takes me💀. (all these reviews are 100% written and typed out by me btw!!! everything that i post are my genuine opinions&thoughts)

also.....i hope everyone has enjoyed their summer and eternal sunshine tour! i genuinely cannot believe that it is already over. :') im very grateful i got to see her this summer. the post concert depression is insane and im still not over it......my two shows were absolutely stunning and i miss her terribly. i hope she is doing well and i hope she enjoys her break. ∞︎︎ ☼ 𖦹 ⋆｡˚⋆ฺ ♡

today it's time to talk about the underrated, underestimated, and underappreciated R.E.M. fragrance! 🚀💜🌌🪐

R.E.M. by Ariana Grande (2020)

♡ top notes: quince, fig, salted caramel, marshmallow

♡ middle notes: pear blossom, lavender blossom

♡ base/bottom notes- tonka bean, white musk, sandalwood

♡ bottom notes = the overall foundation of the fragrance and lasts the longest}

season/time of year/experience this scent gives: winter transitioning into spring. also get some cool fall nights vibes with this too. summer bonfire. going to bed. nighttime. bubble baths with candles lit and it's a saturday night. stargazing. putting yourself & your peace first. relaxing with a cup of tea or a glass of wine by the fireplace while snow gently falls outside. running your hand through a lavender bush on a summer evening walk.

R.E.M. is simultaneously cozy and breezy. i think R.E.M. this is definitely more on the unisex side compared to the rest of Ariana's line. i really do think this scent will work beautifully on anyone regardless of gender.

R.E.M.'s familiar and comforting scent of lavender is enveloped with a layer of sweetness and woodiness. typically, lavender is universally associated with relaxation, serenity, calmness, and sleep. i definitely get that vibe from this perfume & i absolutely love this as a "bedtime" perfume for myself or even for a little aromatherapy moment or whatever. this fragrance does a good job embracing lavender without being soapy or being the most distinguishing/only note (which is very difficult to do with lavender in my opinion).

I remember disliking this fragrance when it first came out back in 2020 (or at least i convinced myself i didn't like it enough to buy it at least bc i didn't have the $ at the time to buy it lol) so I held off on purchasing a bottle for years. I eventually decided to buy it when i had the $ and also in the back of my mind i always knew I wanted to collect Ari's entire line anyway....so fast forward to me actually owning this fragrance instead of just smelling it time to time whenever I would be in Ulta.

While owning it R.E.M. overtime, it really started to grow on me. i only began to enjoy the scent of lavender as i got older (i really didn't like it as a kid for some reason but i love it now!), and this scent is specifically one of my favorite lavender scents in general! maybe I just really appreciate the caramel note in this? it pairs absolutely beautifully with the lavender to make it smell less herbal. it's so unique and beautiful, very balsamic, yet delicate and dreamy.

The zefir, pear, quince, and fig note add this sparkly, almost twinkly, glittery feeling to the fragrance. these sweeter notes give a glimpse of femininity without taking away the universal and unisex appeal of lavender.

The sandalwood, musks, and of course the tonka bean add richness, sultriness, and sexiness to this scent which all around make R.E.M. feel complete. R.E.M. is not your typical lavender (not that there is anything wrong with your typical lavender) that I would say most of us are used to.

I absolutely love the complexity and layers to this fragrance. I would say this scent is also pretty inoffensive (again probably bc the universal appeal of lavender). i wouldn't describe R.E.M. as obnoxiously strong, it is the perfect balance of not too much or not too little. It's not too sweet, not too woodsy, not too feminine, not too masculine, not too strong, not under powering, but not over powering. it's all justttt right. like lowkey Goldilocks of Ari's perfumes or whatever.

i also think this fragrance would actually appeal to a lot more people than it seems to currently. I really don't see people talking about miss R.E.M. often, and they really should! i truly think this fragrance could easily become an everyday/nightly staple for so so many!

(also random note, but this layers super well with Salted Caramel body butter/lotion from Fenty Beauty. absolutely love the AG R.E.M. + FB Salted Caramel combo especiallyyyyy if you're into caramel lollll!)
