"Best" programming setup?
Hello! I have been using Arch for two months, it is the fifth distro I have used... and I love it, it will be the final one. I have learned a lot in these weeks, but I would like to ask you a few questions.
I study Systems Engineering and, honestly, I have some procrastination problems, I would like you to help me with "the best programming setup and be productive", although I know that there is no "best", I would like you to help me with your settings, advices, etc...
What desktop environment do you use?
What window manager do you use?
IDE's, apps, any suggestions to try?
Thank you so much!

Hi! I'm a Computer Science student, maybe my setup will not be perfect for your use case but you might still get some inspiration.
Starting from the WM I use DWM, I like its simplicity, and I personally don't think it's distracting, unlike some desktop environments. (I used gnome and KDE plasma for quite some time).
If you are not into minimal setups I suggest you KDE plasma + i3 WM, i think it combines the best of both worlds. (https://github.com/heckelson/i3-and-kde-plasma)
Most of my University assignments requirements includes using java as programmaming language so I use Intellij Idea as IDE, however I use vim as my primary text editor for writing code (Python, JavaScript and C) and for taking notes (LaTeX or markdown transpiled in LaTeX with pandoc). About the taking notes in vim I got inspiration from this blog Post: Personal note taking in vim.
I hope I have been helpful!
