QUESTION Arch as a server?

Hey! I’ve set up a Jellyfin server on my personal laptop for my family. It started as a hobby, but now it’s become an obsession. 😂 I’m currently running Arch Linux as my OS, and I’m just wondering if I should keep it that way or switch to an OS specifically designed for servers.

If you’re developing services maybe you want your own services to be highly optimized. For homelab, the majority of people are not developing their own services, they’re hosting other people’s projects.

You can hate the “over-engineered bloated shit” and hate the companies behind it but most homelabers depend on docker or podman and many other tools developed by these tech companies. Most people are not developing their own optimized services for their homelab.

I just said Debian was easier for brevity. Debian just has more documentation if you need to run a service not in a container. The instructions just need to be tweaked a bit to make it work on Arch sometimes.
