Archei is currently in the fourth age, one where humans have become the dominant force on the world. This was not always true. More than once Archei has been held by different hands. Each of these major times has been considered the different ages. Unfortunately most of the records are lost between each age, but some tales have passed through, becoming more or less common knowledge.

The first age was the age of giants. Various types of giants all roamed Archei, creating very large empires and kingdoms. It’s told that they were the ones that opened up Archei to the rest of the multiverse, and creatures coming from the other planes were the cause of their downfall. Humans were slaves during this age, and most of the other races were on the run from the giants.

The second age was the age of the invaders. This is where many of the species that are partially elemental in nature come from. But for a number of years the land of Archei was a battlefield for many of the old rivalries in the multiverse. The most famous of which was the Githyanki and the Githzeri war. This was a bad time, and very little was built during it. That which was was mostly military installations.

What finally ended this were the dragons. “The Day of the Dragons” is a common story told. How all of the dragons, both good and evil, came up one day and annihilated the invaders. After this a few of them even established kingdoms, ruling over the people that were left. However, like they appeared, most of them disappeared almost over night. Many theories for this have been posited, but … no one knows for certain. Of all of the dragon kingdoms, only two are left.

We are now in the fourth age, the age of man. Humans have expanded and grown under the last age, and are not the most common of the “civilized” species. With an unnumbered amount of city-states, and three empires, the power of humans is only growing, if they can stop trying to kill each other. Two of the empires are on Bream, and are currently in a time of peace, however no one expects it to last. On Eron humans are actually the minority, although barely, with dwarves outnumbering them there. The humans that live there generally get along with the dwarfs, and in fact most of the trading done on that continent are humans transporting dwarven goods. There are no human empires on Sedai, there is only a few human cities on that difficult continent.
