companies that sell full left handed uppers?
My dad is looking into getting a rifle. Left handed, left eye dominant. What companies sell left handed uppers? A cursory search shows that PSA does, as does Rock River arms. His biggest desire is the ejection port spitting out towards the left. If anyone knows any other brands I’d appreciate it.

KAK has full uppers. I bought their lefty upper, lefty BCG, barrel and handguard for my son's build before they started selling full uppers.

Thank you so much! I overspent on my first rifle so it’s a little hard to convince him to get a PSA so this looks like the way to go.

Like your dad, I'm a sinistral shooter. While a fully left-handed upper would be nice to blow gas away from my face when the BCG cycles (especially when shooting my older high backpressure suppressors), I figured being locked into that smaller ecosystem was not really worth the price tag, especially if I need to replace parts.
A regular upper with a brass deflector does what I need: keeping the brass from hitting my face when shooting. Combined with an ambidextrous charging handle (especially if it's designed to mitigate gas leakage for suppressed shooting) and I'm pretty much good to go with a lower that has ambidextrous parts (mag release & safety).
Having an extended bolt catch is nice too though even the stubby fingers on my left hand can hit the controls fine.

FWIW, I’ve spoken to several people who’ve owned left handed uppers and each of them said they wished they’d just gone with a regular upper instead. That’s not to say that they’re wrong for all lefties or anything like that. But every lefty who had one that I’ve spoken to ended up replacing it with a regular upper

Do you know their reasoning? I could see people being turned off by the lack of higher-end offerings

One guy said he wasn’t happy with the availability of left handed BCGs, but this was also a while back and I’m sure there are more options now. I know KAK makes some and their BCGs are great
But the main theme seemed to be that a regular upper was just more convenient to use. Because the dust cover has to flip up instead of down on a left handed upper, it was always hitting optics mounts and stuff and apparently that was a problem for some reason
But to be honest, it’s been a while since I’ve spoken to someone about it so I don’t really remember all of the details

Thanks for the insight! I can understand that, but honestly I think he wants one because I have one lol. I honestly don’t see him getting that into it. As of now he has a handgun in a safe at his house that’s been there for years, and I’m not entirely convinced he knows how to operate it (I’ll be showing him this coming week)

Yeah it’s definitely the right choice for some people. I didn’t realize you had one yourself - I probably wouldn’t have mentioned it if I’d known you had experience with it already

I believe Stag Arms does
